(Sorry, don't have a useful title for this one) Have been having a very bad week, missing lots of days of work for various reasons. So far the only highlight is that I get paid tomorrow (and I /did/ finally get license plates for the new car). On that note though, I was taking my roommates to a coworker's place for some RPG playing when the inside of the car starts to fog up, I smell coolant, and the "low coolant" light goes on. "Expletives", I say to myself, and pretty soon things are bad enough that I have to pull over--not quite to the exit after mine on the highway (so, didn't get very far at all). Tim & Robert go and get 2 gallons of water to try to drive back on, and we get maybe halfway back (on back roads) when the car starts /really/ steaming up inside, and I pull into a church parking lot so things don't get really bad. Except I can't see where I'm going and end up running right over top the curb-thing between the grass and the parking lot. Scraping noises ensue. Fortunately it's Weds night and there are still some people there. We reload the water, and wonder about trying to get back the rest of the way, but end up discarding that idea and just parking the car there at the church until it can get towed to a mechanic's. After jumping it because it doesn't want to start now either. And after having to hear more horrible scraping noises trying to back up off of the curb. And I'm pretty sure something is messed up in the front end now from that. So now I have to wake up early in the morning, try to find out something about a mechanic, AND go to work with Tim. Will try to see if my sup can get my hours switched around, or something, for the next couple days until the car gets fixed... though mostly I expect I'll end up with a couple hrs of overtime a day, and possibly leaving early if Tim doesn't want to come back out to pick me up. Grar -chews on a nearby chair, or something- Going to try to go get to sleep early, now. |

Ok, I have a couple survey questions for the site's members, so I can properly gauge some upcoming developments I'm planning for the site. These should be easy answers, so please take a minute to post some answers in the comments section of this post. 1) If you have a cell phone, what cell phone carrier do you use? (AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, etc.) 2) Are you able to send text messages from your cell phone to email addresses? 3) Can you make any wild predictions as to why I'm asking these questions? ^_^ Thank you for your participation! -- TG |

Wow, it has been way too long since I've posted here! (drink) Sorry about that... I don't know what came over me... Other than being busy and not getting on here all that often! For that, I apologize... again! I don't know when the last time I posted updates on my life was, so I'm just going to work backwards with what's been going on, until I feel like stopping! Well, first up, as the title suggests, tomorrow, I will be once again flying to Tampa for business. This time, though, I will be heading down there alone! The past two times I've went, I've always had somebody with me. This time, though, I get to fend for myself! I already have a couple places I want to visit while I'm down there in my off time. One place is this Japanese restaurant I had gone to before... It's called Oishi. Yes, it lives up to its name. And I think they even greet you with the traditional "Irasshaimase" when you enter! The other place I want to visit is the hotel pool! One thing I'm worried about for my trip, though, is my health. The past week, I've been suffering with some severe headaches. They started Monday as an annoyance, but exploded on Thursday to a debilitating level. I was able to squeeze in a doctor's appointment on Friday, and I got put on a couple prescription medications, and also had to get a SED Rate exam done. I don't know what that is, but it required them take blood. I think it's to check for inflammation in my head, but my doctor didn't think that was the case... but he ordered the test just to be sure. I'm also going to be scheduled for a CAT Scan, also as a precaution. Although that one is only precautionary, that has me worried, because there's always the "what if" worries. Hopefully, that one also comes back clean. All of my normal vital signs aren't showing anything abnormal, so no warning signs that something could be seriously wrong, but I'm still anxious for the tests to be over with and to hear the results. Unfortunately, the CAT Scan will have to wait until I get back from Tampa, so I have this entire week to have this on my mind. Going back to before the headaches... On Labor Day, I went ahead to the Renaissance Festival again!... In the cold and pouring rain! They were absolutely horrible conditions to be out in... and I don't think I ever had as much fun! There were very few people there, mainly because of the weather, so because of that, I didn't have to fight any crowds. I got great seats to all of the shows, and the people that were at the festival were all diehards, so the crowds for the shows were small, but rowdy! Also, because of the small crowds, I got to spend extra time chatting with a lot of people there, especially some of the vendors, who had a lot of spare time with the lack of customers. I spend a good bit of time at the flute stand, where I ended up chatting with the apprentice (a.k.a. Johnny Depp look-a-like). I also got into a couple awesome conversations with this one vendor at a wood-craft stand. Probably my favourite set of conversations, though, was with this one girl, who was vendor-reliever. Her job was to wander around and relieve any vendors who needed to take a break. She described herself as the "town bicycle"! ^_^ I ended up running into her at three different stands, the first being the flute stand. So, at the other two booths where I ran into her, she recognized me from the flute stand as the guy who could play the unplayable instrument (shakuhachi), so that led to extended conversations with her. Oh, and I should mention, I got my shakuhachi! ^_^ Well, I've got to cut it short here. I've got to start getting things ready for my Tampa trip. I hope to provide some updates while I'm down there. Until then, catch y'all later! -- TG Oh, P.S... A heart-felt thank you to members of the armed forces, firemen, and police, who serve our country. On this, the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, we thank you for your service to our great country. ~~ Never Forget ~~ |
