[till I can sing your favorite song] Well, looks like I'm actually keeping a schedule here for once. Whee. No real new news, just trying to catch up on a couple things I haven't gotten out here yet: 1) Have not been doing real great this past week or so. OK once I get to work, but having a very difficult time waking up. Part of it feels like depression (but I've been too busy with video games, the new kitten, and other things to really tell), part of it may be the room being cold when I'm trying to wake, and part of it was definitely just not getting enough sleep. Trying to work on all 3 of those, at least kinda. Getting out early from work the last two days seems to have helped some... but only some. I'm still squandering my time watching too much TV w/ Tim & Lucy. 2) I need a exit strategy, and soon: I'm still trying to decide when I'm going to consider myself to have worked at this place for a full year, because I want to be out by then. I'm gradually getting more used to it, I just can't tell if that's a good thing or a bad thing---because this is so NOT a good job for me, and I'm not making any visible forward progress there. I've had a couple leads on IT-style temp agencies, and I have a couple projects I'd like to work on to get some of my skills back up-to-date, but between one thing and another I haven't done any actual work on those. 3) Didn't end up getting Tim's car back today after all. May have to figure out how to do that PLUS get a haircut and get my brakes looked at this upcoming Weds; or possibly getting his car will be pushed back farther. Won't know till we hear that the car work is all done. Either way, I got paid this past couple days and so I have $$ for some more of my own car's repairs/maintenance, so need to get that done. ...and I think that's it for here tonight. Gonna go try to deal with a couple depression pieces and still get to bed on time for once ;) |

Trying to decide how sleepy I am right now, since it's just past my bedtime but I slept in about 4 hours today... I've just not been waking up easily this week, partly due to the cold (I think), partly due to letting myself stay up a little bit late playing City of Heroes, partly due to the kitteh not letting me sleep through the night as I'm used to. I've also seemed kinda depressed, but I don't know if that's a cause or an effect. I will say that 4 hours of night driving today helped get me in the "not quite awake, but not asleep" slightly-depressed mood that I'm enjoying right now. Oh, the 4 hrs driving was because my brother's car broke down in Cinci, so I had to go pick up him & Lucy & bring them back. The car is down there, is supposed to get worked on my some of his friends and we can go get it when it's done. If that's not Weds, it'll have to be in a week unless he thinks it's worth going after once I get off work one night... at least Columbus is central and it's only 4 hr round trip to mostly anywhere! But on the drive back, Lucy was sleeping so he & I got into some nostalgia about comic books and other random things; nostalgia feeds this mood as well. Yay for autumn! If it wasn't for work tomorrow I'd be enjoying myself right now >_> Glanced at jobs in Columbus area at one temp agency's website and didn't see anything I thought I could apply to, but that was just one site and I've only looked there once and it's really not my call whether I fit the job or not, right? -rolls his eyes- Not that I'm gonna have time to look this upcoming Weds, unless D&D gets cancelled again--I'm supposed to help Jen start to get moved into an apartment again, and that was tentatively scheduled for this Weds. Can postpone that if I have to get Tim's car, but either way I won't be here in the afternoon. Other stuff: My birthday is in less than a month! Eep! Need to see what I can do for that this year, I definitely want to make plans. But I'll have to ask for Thanksgiving off work, I believe, so I don't think I'm gonna take a day off for my birthday also, but they wouldn't both be on the same paycheck so it might be manageable. Hmm, my birthday is on a Monday this year, so I could just visit home that Sunday and it'd be close enough... ( /me burns a lot of time looking through old MySpace blogs to see what titles he's already used, and fails to find any that he thought he was going to use, so ends up with nothing anyway. Did get to read a lot of old "public diary" entries, and wants to cross-reference some to find out what he was talking about! ) Still, that got me to be tired enough for bed... looking at 7 hrs sleep again, but at least it looks like the cat won't be bothering me tonight. At least my "short" week is inbound this time! Yay for Weds/Sun off! |

[but something's changed] OK, so got a battery on Sunday, car is working now except for a list of things that still need looked at to give it a clean bill of health. City of Heroes is pretty fail as far as games go (if other MMOs are anything like this one, no wonder I've avoided them!) but I'm still kinda addicted to it for the moment. I've tried out 2 different characters already, still trying to get a handle on some of the less immediately obvious bits of the system. Haven't gotten too far into the content itself--have only gotten past level 10 with one character, out of 50 levels. The game is theoretically playable solo, but there's a pretty big difference between solo play and group play, both in difficulty and in the stuff you get to see & deal with. Did go and get a second optical mouse today (so both my Linux machines are usable, though I still could use a second set of speakers). Hmm, ok, list of stuff for the car: 1) brakes (especially rear brakes) need looked at. 2) spark plugs need looked at to see if they want replacing; that's a pretty easy/routine maintenance thing that I just don't have the tools for. 3) something's been screeching in the engine area; it's RPM-linked but I haven't been able to narrow it down any further than that 4) CD player has an annoying anti-theft feature, where if it loses power (such as during a battery replacement) it won't do anything until a certain code is entered. Since I didn't get the code when I got the car, I have to take it to a dealership so they can reset the thing for me. And I have no idea how much that costs; it may be more efficient to just replace the entire CD player. In the meantime, I have gotten my portable CD player a new set of (dollar-store) headphones so at least I can listen to something. Had a nice nap today; hopefully I'll be able to get to bed in time to wake up for work, and haven't just messed up my sleep schedule (heh). -goes off and does other things for a bit- ...and now it's 230AM and I'm supposed to be ASLEEP in an hour to get a good 8 hrs sleep (if the cat doesn't wake me up too much in the interim). So doubt that's gonna happen. I could note here that although Storm plays with the blankets (and people's hands) too much, at least he sleeps near my chest instead of behind my knees like my previous cat used to do. >_> Never did understand why a cat would think that was a good place to curl up... Mood: Waiting. |

(Note: I found my old poetry book yesterday! So, to provide some much needed content, I'm going to be posting some of my old poems! I'm starting off with one of my personal favourites of mine... a parody poem of Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven". Written October 17, 2001. Enjoy!) Once upon a midnight sleeping, lay a farmer in his keeping Dreaming all about the many precious moments with his sheep Unbeknownst to him, while sleeping, numerous aliens were creeping Creeping 'bout the sheepyard searching for a harvest they could reap Sheep are tasty to the spacemen, many there that they could reap Doing all without a peep Suddenly then, there was startled farmer Bob was all a marveled For his restlessness he was unable to go back to sleep Did he have a nightmare blasted? Was his stomach hungry fasted? Maybe he was full and had to let his body fluids seep? In the outhouse there he let his many body fluids seep Along with a flaming heap As he pulled his pants up briefly, then he heard a sheep baa griefly He rushed over quickly to discover the cause of the weep When he saw the source of whining, many aliens there dining He knew that he had to try and save his many wooly sheep Out he rushed into the battle just to save his wooly sheep In his trusty, rusted Jeep T'wards the aliens 'twas facing, his adrenaline was racing Noble steed that was the Jeep rushed in to rescue yon lost sheep Unbeknownst to Bob, t'were mannin' yon gigantic laser cannon Blown to ashes, there the end of Bob's old trusty, rusted Jeep Bob there wept over the rubble of his trusty, rusted Jeep That he bought at Ed's real cheap After Jeep was laser dusted, Bob's pride was severely busted He rushed in with his bare fists to save his many wooly sheep As the aliens then parted, king alien on Bob farted Passed the gas with much of ease and put the farmer back to sleep On the ground there Bob did lie when gas had put him back to sleep One that was extremely deep Then the aliens retreated, Bob lied on the earth defeated When he woke, to much surprise, he knew of nothing prior sleep Sanity there then had left him, craziness then overtook him There he danced around just like a llama learning how to leap After tiring he went back to dream about how he could leap Back to his old snuggly keep When he entered, heard a ticking as an old woodpecker picking Round about he searched to find the source of ticking that did creep Searching high and low he sifted, but the sound, it merely drifted Followed him around as if a nuisance it had made him keep He had searched the entire house for dreaded sound that made him keep From e'er going back to sleep He looked down then to discover watch upon his wrist did ponder Bob heard voices in the watch from which it murmured ever deep Asked to wristwatch "Can you hear me? Can you answer me so dearly? Can you share upon my ears the wisdom that you humbly keep? Teach me lessons from the depths of wisdom that you humbly keep!" Quote the wristwatch, it said "Beep" As he marveled at the wonder, Bob stared at the wristed ponder Curious as to what this beeping's hidden meaning running deep Could it be from God or Daemon, sent to Bob by angel, demon From the fiery depths of Hell or from the church's rising steep? His insanity pulled meaning from this message from the steep Of a solitary beep Bob then pleased the gods by dancing, submitted to mindless ranting Waving body parts around just like a hopeless, mindless freak Vulgar movements he was makin', dancing 'round the room butt-naked Making sickly motions as he tried to godly pleasures keep When he licked his armpits he knew he could godly pleasures keep For he knew he'd pleased the beep Then he started to remember long ago in mid September He would ride around all day while through his hair the wind would seep He would get out of the sauna, take with him a dozen llama Pack them in the back and take a nice long road trip with the sheep Wool would blow 'round to and fro while parting through the wooly sheep In the trusty, rusted Jeep Then a flashback came a sailin', reminding of scaly alien Who invaded yon lost farm and harvested some many sheep Feasting on the sheep asunder while Bob was in pleasant slumber 'Til he rose that fateful night to let his body fluids seep He recalled the pleasure briefly of his yellow fluids seep Along with green, flaming heap Bob recalled the aliens mannin' yon gigantic laser cannon Blowing 'way to kingdom come his faithful, trusty, rusted Jeep He then knew the time of weeping, down his face the tears were leaking Then he'd vowed to vengeance make, kill aliens for his pride to keep When king alien bent over, he knew pride he could not keep For he smelt of alien heap He looked down at watch sensation, thought of some reincarnation Wondering if inside was trapped the long lost soul of trusty Jeep Bob then shouted, "Can you hear me? Can you answer me so dearly? Are you from the heaven world, and were you once my trusty Jeep? Is your soul the result of explosion of my trusty Jeep? Quote the wristwatch, it said "Beep" Then Bob became very angry, making ever more him crazy For this insult watch had told him with its loud and piercing peep Bob yelled, "How is it that you can say such things with bad intention? I would never at you throw such shots that were so very cheap You were once my trusty Jeep, how could your words at me be cheap? Quote the wristwatch, it said "Beep" So Bob fell in deeper sorrow, crying like t'was no tomorrow For the words the watch was saying grew so ever piercing deep Bob cried, "Why did I befriend you? I once thought that I had loved you! I once did my entrust put on you to safely cart my sheep If you hate me, then what did you think of my once carted sheep? Quote the wristwatch, it said "Beep" That said, Bob's wrath, it was raging, and his jealousy was aging For how could his Jeep not love him, but instead befriend his sheep? Bob exclaimed, "That does it with you, my wrist I will never lend you!" Off he took the watch and threw it up against the wall in keep "No more will I let you stay here in the comfort of my keep!" Quote the wristwatch, it said "Beep" At that last remark so blasted, Bob became so flabbergasted Drew his gun and shot the watch that was the soul of trusty Jeep Though insanity had spoken, unbeknownst to Bob, he'd taken Out the only means he had of having way of time to keep So lied watch in pile of rubble, never again time to keep Never more again to beep |

So things have been going mostly good, just feeling like I'm a half-step from continued disaster... Chillin' with Storm, watchin' anime and/or burning time with internet games & a dayjob. Then yesterday another tardy (just over 5 minutes late on sign-in, apparently) finally got through the system, so I am now at 5.75 out of 6 occurances o_o -sigh- and it's gonna be a month and a half till any of those drop off. Not a good situation :( Today I had the day off, so was gonna run some errands & thne go play D&D like we've been trying to do for ove a month (got through a chargen session and that's been it for one reason or another)... so Tim & Lucy decide we should go for bagels for breakfast (well, I slept in so it's breakfast now). After the bagels, my car decides it doesn't want to start. -_- So we walk a mile or so back to the house, and Tim & I drive his car over to jump mine. Fortunately that works (after we let it charge the batery for a little while) so I'm hoping it'll get me to work & back tomorrow -sigh- Not that I really wanna keep working there, but I don't want to be fired. Also, I have to wake up early so I can call AAA back about the tire I had to replace. Blargh. Oh, and then we find out someone else canceled the D&D game for this week, so we watch some more anime for a while... then that computer decides it has a virus of some sort (you know, the annoying pop-up 'you have a virus!' things from an "anti-virus program" that I know that computer doesn't have). So I shut it off and have been trying to clean it for the past couple hours. It's currently in safe mode running a malware scan to be sure it's clean; once that finishes I'll run a virus scan to doublecheck, and then we reboot it normal and see if it'll still let us on the 'net. At least I get paid on Friday so I can have the battery tested and possibly replaced, as well as paying for rent and maybe see if I can pay people back any on what I've borrowed with all these car issues. Maybe; really not sure how much $$ I'll have for that on this paycheck. |
