| Dia duit, my fellow primates, and welcome to another edition of WTF Video of the Week! The entry for this week is to celebrate the annual drunk fest known as St. Patrick's Day, and what better way to celebrate it than with some dancing monkeys? Ok, maybe a few pints of green beer is a better way to celebrate... To each his own, I guess! Sláinte! | ||||||||

Since I seem to have nothing else better to do, time to lay down some randomness for all y'all to choke on. Enjoy! 1) Today, I was at Steak n Shake, and I saw somebody I had not seen in a very long time, who I thought I'd never see again... I had thought this one waitress had quit, but she was working today! 2) I've got some weird stomach bug that's been bugging me for the past half-week. Ugh. Hope I can shake it soon! 3) I bought some shelves today, because I think I'm about ready to start working on putting together my computer room downstairs, and I will need some storage space! 4) I still haven't changed that lightbulb. 5) My internet connection has been going down left and right for the past couple of weeks. I don't dare call Comcast, though, because all they'll do is blame it on my router. 6) I got a couple games I lent out back! Metroid (yay) and Sonic (boo). 7) I actually flat-ironed my hair last night! When I woke up, it was curly again. 8) I was supposed to have this meeting tonight, but I cancelled because I've been sick and stressed. Just not ready for meeting with people in this condition. Got it rescheduled for Monday, so hopefully, I'll be better by then. 9) I keep getting close to beating Super Macho Man on Punch Out, but he always gets me in the end. 10) I actually got sent home from work the other day because of me being sick! Of course, they practically had to drag me out! 11) Saturday is just chalk full of stuff to do. Have food distribution, trip to Pittsburgh, and White Day all to take care of that day! 12) Congratulate my mom if you see her... she got a job at the local bakery! Hee hee... maybe I can score some free donuts... -- TG |

| This is just classic! What happens when a string ensemble spots somebody not paying attention, but yaking away on a cell phone? This is probably the best option I could think of! Enjoy! | ||||||||

Well, unlike last year, I haven't really posted any huge blogs on that great national pastime, American Idol. But that's about to change! I know, I hear some groaning from some of you! But since they're finally down to the Top 13 (formerly top 12), I figured I'd preview the contestants, and give my opinions on what their chances are in actually winning the thing. So, without further adieu, here is my preview of the Top 13 on AI. The order I give the contestants is beginning with whom I believe has the least chance to win, up to the best chance. 13) Megan Corkery (Vegas Odds: 15:1) This girl really confuses me, because the judges see something in her that apparently, America is completely overlooking. She did not make it in as a voter choice, but as a judges' selection in the wild-card round. Her voice is ok, kind of bluesy, but she seems very awkward on stage. Her stage presense consists of just standing in front of the mic, and occassionally swinging her arms side to side like she's doing the twist without any hip movement. I doubt she will be make it into the tour group (note: only the top 10 contestants get to go on the AI tour), and I'm thinking that if she does make it past #10, it will be based mostly on her looks rather than her actual talent. 12) Jasmine Murray (Vegas Odds: 30:1) Jasmine was thought to be a possible contender early on, but during her viewer voting round, she had an absolutely terrible performance that probably wouldn't even have gotten her to Hollywood if she had sung like that in her audition. She managed to get through during the wild card show, when she actually performed some nice vocals, and gave a glimpse of a big voice she had been hiding. However, with as spectacularly as she has failed before, as well has her relatively low popularity, one small misstep, and she could be out the door. 11) Matt Giraud (Vegas Odds: 12:1) Matt is another wild-card selection who did not get a lot of airtime during the Hollywood rounds, and is probably the weakest male in the Top 13. The one thing he has going for him is his previous career path of being a dueling piano player. He has a pretty solid voice when he's in the zone, but like Jasmine, he had an absolutely terrible viewer voting round, and not much popularity, so one slip could send him packing. 10) Michael Sarver (Vegas Odds: 50:1) Wow, I have him a lot higher than Vegas is predicting him. In terms of having a chance of winning the thing, he is definitely a longshot, but I see him sticking around for a few weeks at least, mainly because he is such a likeable guy. He is an oil-rig worker, so he will probably relate to a ton of blue-collar people who watch the show. But even though he was voted in by viewers, his performance during the viewer voting round was average at best. Lucky for him, he seems like his voice could be suited for various genres, so he might have some success with the variety of theme weeks the producers offer, where others who are a single type may struggle. 9) Kris Allen (Vegas Odds: 30:1) Here is a guy that seems to be being propped as the heartthrob of the group. Simon had claimed that the women will love him, although if he does get that love, it won't be because of his voice. Vocal-wise, he's one of the weaker contestants, but he will probably stick around for a few weeks because he'll get a good portion of the love-struck female vote. 8) Jorge Nunez (Vegas Odds: 25:1) This Puerto Rico native really snuck up on me. I thought he had no chance of getting to the top 12, but he came out of nowhere with a very powerful voice. He can whip out the power ballad with no problem, but with his accent, he may struggle some with some of the regional styles, like country week. He'll be around for a little while, especially since he is one of the more unique contestants this season. 7) Allison Iraheta (Vegas Odds: 15:2) This girl kinda cracks me up, because she will speak in this very sarcastic apathetic voice a good bit of the time, and it just sounds so funny! Luckily, she has a Kelly Clarkson-like female rocker-wannabe voice, so a lot of the old Idol fans will like her style. Don't think she can win the thing, mainly because we've heard this style before in this contest, but she'll stick around for a while. 6) Alexis Grace (Vegas Odds: 12:1) Alexis, in my opinion, is the most attractive female in the competition this year, so she'll get the swooning male vote. But luckily, she also has an extremely awesome jazz voice to go along with her looks, so she will still around for a long while, and is the first among the contestants I've listed so far that I believe has a chance of winning. 5) Anoop Desai (Vegas Odds: 15:1) Anoop is quite a likeable guy, that's for sure, and it seems like the producers like to pick on him a bit! They've always had him at the very end of every result he's been involved in, and would have to really sweat it out before finding out he was safe. Probably the most popular of the wild-card contestants, and will get very far because of his likeability. He's also a pretty good singer, to boot! 4) Scott MacIntyre (Vegas Odds: 10:1) Mr. Backstory himself. This is the guy that the show always looks for with the great backstory about overcoming adversity. Well, it doesn't get much bigger than this. Scott is blind, but still made it to the auditions, and is now in the top 13. The guy has been labeled as a modern-day music prodigy, with smooth vocals, and a killer skill at piano. Combined with his talent and backstory, he will go a long way. 3) Lil Rounds (Vegas Odds: 5:1) By far, Lil Rounds is the strongest female in the competition, with a very strong R&B voice. She is probably on the way to the top 3, but her major problem is that she sounds like a lot of the other great R&B singers out there right now, and even though that's not a bad thing, people may want something different from their AI winner. 2) Adam Lambert (Vegas Odds: 2:1) Everybody's favourite flamer! This guy has some really powerful chops, and has the most dynamic range of any contestant in the competition. Just on vocal talent alone, he's bound for an extended stay in the competition. The problem I see him facing is that because of his style, he may come across as shouting some the songs, and the whole personal life and past thing may turn off a lot of people. He could win this thing, though, because he's definitely unique. 1) Danny Gokey (Vegas Odds: 5:2) My pick to win this thing is everybody's favourite Pentecostal! This guy is just so incredibly likeable, has the backstory (his wife passed away just a few weeks before he auditioned), and has a very awesome rhaspy old-soul voice that he makes fit so well with just about everything he sings. He's a lock for the Top 3, and whether he wins or not, he's got a huge career in music ahead of him. |
