Howdy ho, my high and mighty friends, and welcome to another edition of WTF Video of the Week! For the video this week, we roll up a very "fat" one. That's right, we're lighting up some paper, and possibly getting a hand or two burnt in the process. Watch as reality fades away into a hazy dreamworld, and leaves you in a happy euphoria. Of course, what else could we be talking about but... origami sumo wrestling! What, were you expecting something else? If so, WTF? Enjoy!

Ohayou gozaimasu, and welcome to another edition of WTF Video of the Week! For this week's video, we take you to our favourite crazy country, Japan, for another variety show skit. This one involves a modern-day samurai who does what any noble samurai would do... put his skills on display by doing crazy stunts! But seriously, this guy's skills are quite impressive. So, ganbatte miisutaa samurai, and WTF?

So, I got this very strange email at work the other day from one of my buddies. It was a very Sunohara-esque question, in regards to its similarity to his trying to prove that Tomoyo was a man.

THEM: If me and matt set it up, would you be willing to jump double the length of the grand canyon on a bicycle. Matt believes you can do it, and I have my doubts.

My immediate thought was that they were discussing whether or not I was a superhero of sort, and were trying to come up with one of those questions that would prove whether or not that was indeed the case. Turns out I was pretty close... after a discussion on one of them not being able to do something, this Matt said that they should ask me to do it, because I "could do anything". So, the sender of the email asked in return if I would be able to jump the length of the Grand Canyon (which somehow, ended up being double the length), and Matt still said yes.

So, in true Tomoyo fashion, I replied in such a way that would not reveal either way of whether or not I was capable of the challenge.

ME: How would you guys even going about setting that up? I'm sure that would take a good bit of clout and planning to reserve some 550+ mile stretch of area for a bicycle jump!

Their reply:

THEM: I figure we could set up the take-off ramp on a farm right outside of cincinnatti. Find an area where the end of the 550 miles would end at a dead space style area, like another farm, and set up the landing ramp, if you are confident you can do it, you should be able to clear everything in between.

Of course, this got me thinking.... where would be a good place to land, if I did indeed launch myself on a bike over that great distance? So, I used my patent-pending zip-to-zip latitude/longitude distance calculator to find all cities at a distance of 550-560 miles from Cincinnati.

ME: I just ran a check on mileage... the grand canyon is 277 miles in length, which means double that is 554. From Cincinnati, guess what city is 554 miles away? Staten Island, NY!!! That would be a nice place to touch down!

Running all these logistics must have made them think that I was putting some serious thought into doing this!

THEM: So your in then?

I decided to run one final calculation, searching particular origins and destinations.

ME: Oh bloody.... just found the perfect combo! It is 556 miles from Bradyville Tennessee to Fulton Maryland!!! That would be perfect!

That got them all fired up, apparently!!!

THEM: That one is sweeter, do you want to provide us with the dimensions of the ramp you want, or can we build them however we want to?

And of course, I still didn't give a definitive answer on my possibly superhuman capabilities.

ME: I would have to give some thought to the dimensions of the ramp, as well as the physics behind such a jump as this.

So, I think they're now interested in seeing how the physics of all this would pan out!

THEM: I don't need an answer right now, so you take your time and ponder on it, and let us know whenever you can.

I'll make sure I post my conclusions here in the near future!!!

Well, the cat is out of the bag! No, not Adolph! The big thing I was planning, if you saw me reference it on the site, is that me and my siblings were planning a surprise 60th birthday party for my mother. This was an event that took months of planning, and although we had a couple last minute issues, it ended up being a smashing success! My mom had absolutely no clue this was in the works, but we'll get into all of that in a bit.

Here was the setup: My Aunt was wanting to take her to lunch for her birthday, but had to wait until the weekend when she got paid. My mom was fine with this, and my Aunt had made reservations for Golden Chopsticks at noon.

This past week was really tough, especially since we were rounding in the last RSVP's, trying to make sure everything was in order, and yours truly putting finishing touches on a video we were hoping to play at the party. I also had to make several trips to my mom's workplace, the local bakery, and talk to her bosses while my mom was not there, to make sure that she got off of work on time to make the party. It would all be for naught if she couldn't get the time off! Of course, her bosses were really excited about the idea, and promised that they would get her out of work early. The video was the one major snag we had during this whole process, because I was up the entire night before the party, wrapping it up. After compiling the video and burning it to disk, during our test-run, 15 minutes before we were supposed to head out, we come to find that the file was corrupted! All that work, and we couldn't show it at the party! But we all agreed that it wasn't the end of the world, and that the party would go on without it. Oh, and I should mention that during this stretch of not sleeping, I ended up being awake for 40 straight hours!

So yeah, when we finally get to the party, we're trying to make sure our cars are out of eyesight of the entrance, so my mom would have no clue what was coming. During this time before her arrival, I'm going around, greeting people, making sure people know the procedure for yelling "surprise", and all that jazz. All this on zero sleep! All in all, about 35 people showed up for the party, which was a very good turnout.

My mom and aunt finally arrive around noon, as promised, and they are led up the back way to her awaiting party. She had no clue until she caught a glimpse of a few of the guests as she walked into the party. I'd say she was really shocked to see some of the people who had made it, like my brother and his family, from North Carolina, my sister and her boyfriend, also of NC, and my uncle and aunt from eastern Pennsylvania. She couldn't believe that we had been able to plan all of this without giving away a single clue!

I'll write some more on all of this, as well as other happenings later, as it appears my thoughts are becoming quite scattered, and there is a lot to tell about this event. So, later!

Greetings nerfherders, and welcome to yet another edition of WTF Video of the Week! This week's video comes to us courtesy of the vast right-wing conspiracy! In what has to be one of the most terrible crossovers imaginable, we cross Jabba the Hutt with Rush Limbaugh... makes me wonder if his line "Oota-goota" is actually "WTF" in his native tongue... Enjoy!
