This has been a pretty bad day, I must say. Yesterday, as you may know, was my day off for vet's day, and I had taken my car in to get its oil changed. That was step one of getting my car nice and ready for the Thanksgiving trip to NC next week. Today was supposed to be step two, which was getting my tires realigned. Ever since I had taken my car to this body shop in town, the tires had been out of line, and even though the body shop had promised to realign them for free, and claimed that they followed through on their promise, they never did. Even after they had said they aligned it, there was no change... my car was still going to the right, with one front wheel seemingly being off a bit compared to the other. Well, enough of dwelling in the past... anywho, I took it in today to finally get it aligned, but close to noon, I got a phone call from the body shop (a different one than the one I took it to last time... I'm promising never to return to that shop, as they don't keep their promises...), and was told that there was a lot wrong with the underside of my car... I don't speak mechanic, so I don't know what all he was describing to me, but it was a lot. The point I do remember, though, is that just getting it aligned would be a waste of money, since it would not fix the real reason my tires were not aligned.
Well, the good news is that the problems are fixable, and the parts are going to be Thursday... until then, my car is still drivable, so I can get around. The bad news... it's going to cost around $1250 for the parts and labour. Ugh!
Now some people may think I'm made of money, which isn't true, because not once have I been able to rip off a body part and use that to buy my groceries... and believe me, I've tried! ;) But irregardless of the fact that I am pretty well off moneywise, $1250 is still a LOT of money for a one-time expenditure! Especially since I just used about the same amount on a new laptop last week! (Thank goodness that's on credit!) But luckily, this body shop has some credit plans of their own, and will allow me to put about $250 down on the work, and then pay the rest off in monthly payments (which, I may just do ONE monthly payment of the remaining $1000 when the time comes).
So yeah, today's been pretty evil to me... and now I'm doing dishes again! Can this day get any worse? Wait... don't answer that... it's rhetorical.
