I knew this was bound to happen eventually... I was doing some work on a website yesterday, which is currently being developed on the backend of my site, when I went to upload that site's database, which I had made some changes to. When the confirmation box popped up, I just clicked OK, thinking nothing of it. But I forgot about this tiny glitch that my web editing software contained. You see, there will be the occassion where you select one file to upload from this piece of software, and it will instead select a different file. And that's what happened. You know what file it selected to upload instead of the one I requested? THE MAIN DATABASE FOR THIS SITE!!! Ugh! So, after it started uploading, I noticed the file name, and was like "Oh, crap", but by then, the damage was already done. I had lost any information up to the point of my last backup. Luckily, I had to back the database up recently, in order to create that forum post for the election blog. So, all that ended up getting erased was a couple comments, a couple forum posts, and the most recent WTF Video of the Week. So, in case you were wondering what happened to some of the stuff mentioned above, now you know. And knowing is half the battle! |

Well, tomorrow (technically today) is Election Day, and it is time to come to a decision on who to vote for as President. This is a decision I really struggled with this time, probably the most struggle I've had with a Presidential election in my life. But after a lot of thinking and prayer, I've made a decision. First off, I had been thinking of casting my vote for an independent or third party candidate. The reason? Both McCain and Obama's campaigns have irked me a bit, and there are several issues where I've disagreed with the major party candidates. But I have decided against voting third party/independent, because this is such an important election, and if I cast for other than a major party candidate, my vote would go to waste, since there are no third party candidates that have a remote chance of winning. So, that limited my choice down to McCain and Obama. So, with all of that out of the way, what does this election come down to? Sure, there are some important issues at stake, like the economy and such. How did we get in such a mess? Well, in my opinion, the principles that this nation was built on have come under such an attack, that it's very hard to find any decency. People in power, whether government or corporate, have become corrupted by their own greed, and have driven this nation down into a very dark hole. And everything that is wrong with the nation today is because of either radicals pushing their own agendas to satisfy their lusts, or the apathetic lemmings sitting by, following whatever may please their ears, although it may lead them off a cliff. So, for me, the decision comes down to one thing: The issues of morality. These issues, such as abortion, gay marriage, etc., have been very quickly becoming out of control due to liberalist agendas. My stances are these are that life begins at conception, and that marriage should be defined as the union of a man and woman, as God has designed it. All too often, though, people do not want to take responsibility for their actions, and instead just get rid of their "problem". Or we just want to give in to our feelings and emotions and just go with what feels "right". These may be reflective of the whole abortion and gay marriage issues, but these same mindsets have lead to all of the other problems with this nation. No responsibility and no regrets can apply to a number of various issues, like the corporate greed and economic scandals that are tearing our nation apart. We need somebody who will not just give in to these ideologies (sp?) and be able to stand up and reestablish these moral standards back into our nation's fabric. Now, some people may say that there are bigger issues at stake than abortion or gay marriage, or these other moral issues. What bigger issue is there than the sanctity of human life? Or family values? Sure, one may think the economy is important, which I will agree it is, but no matter who is President, the market is cyclical, and there are several other forces at work than the President, or his Cabinet, or Congress or the Senate can control. But these moral issues reveal the true person and what they stand for, and I want somebody who will take responsibility for his actions, and ask others to do the same. Somebody who will honour the values that this country was founded upon, respect all life and respect family. After looking at the two candidates, only one holds to these moral values that I follow and adhere to, and when I cast my vote for him, I pray that his character and values will be a light to this nation and bring it out of the darkness that it has fallen into. Like I said, these moral issues are a reflection of the inner person, and I cannot in good conscious cast a vote for somebody who would allow human life to be harmed or ungodly acts of lust to be committed, since the roots of these have caused the moral decline of our nation. That is why I will be casting my vote for John McCain. |
