Ok, I'm going to be on the run a good bit today, but I thought I'd take a quick moment to update you on a couple of things going on with the site.

First, in case you haven't noticed already, there is now a small Status window in the side menu to your right. Now, whenever you move your mouse over the Blog, Forum, or Guestbook menu items, you will see what date/time the last post appeared in each of those sections. That way, you don't have to run around as much to know if you're missing something or not.

Second, we are almost at a milestone in site usage! Sometime either tonight or tomorrow, we will most likely eclipse the 5000 visitor mark! Now, that number is since we started logging visits, which was on August 15th, 2007. So, not bad for a nobody's site in less than a year and a half! :)

Well, time to get back on the road. I'll catch y'all later!

Good evening, class! Time for another edition of WTF Video of the Week! I'm really excited about this one, just because I'm a big fan of the show Mythbusters, and this video was a live stage show. Plus, in typical Mythbusters tradition, they go big, dangerous, and absolutely insane! All these big gadgets and crazy stuff that they do make you want to scream WTF, but at the same time, leave you smiling, and a little bit more intelligent in the end! Enjoy!

This has been one crazy year in college football. While the two undefeated teams are in minor conferences, there are seven major colleges with one loss, so once again, the BCS is in complete and utter chaos! I am in the process of watching the BCS selection show, and will be blogging my thoughts on the whole process and the picks for the bowl games.

One thing that is guaranteed - six teams are guaranteed spots, since they won their major conference championships: Big Ten (Penn State), Big 12 (Oklahoma), Big East (Cincinnati), ACC (Virginia Tech), SEC (Florida), and Pac 10 (USC).

Other teams in the bubble: Alabama, Boise State, Utah, Texas, and Texas Tech

First Selection is in.

Rose Bowl: #8 Penn State vs. #5 USC

This matchup I agree with. Traditional Rose Bowl matchup.

FedEx Orange Bowl: #17 Virginia Tech vs. #12 Cincinnati

Ok, so the Orange Bowl is this year's BCS pillow fight. I'm glad they put these two teams together, because that may prevent a couple blowouts if these teams were to face the better teams in the BCS.

So, with the first two matchups out of the way, time for some random thoughts on the whole situation with this year's selections. A lot of people want a tournament to decide the national champion, and for the most part, I'm in agreement with those people. If we really want a national champion decided on the field, a tournament is the best way to decide that, not a selection committee. There will be several teams this year that will feel they are screwed out of a chance of a national championship. Of course, this year, even with a tournament, at least one team would be screwed over if the format allowed for eight teams, which a lot of supporters for the tournament system feel is a fair number. Right now, there are nine teams who all feel they deserve to be in, and if the top eight were decided by the conference champions as it is now, then remaining ratings, both Utah and Boise State may get left out because of where they fall in the rankings. If you just went with the top eight BCS seeds, Boise State, who is undefeated, would still get left out, since they are undefeated. Although the tournament, I feel, is the way to go, this year's group of teams would still leave some people angry.

Sugar Bowl: #6 Utah vs #4 Alabama

Fiesta Bowl: #10 Ohio State vs #3 Texas

Ok, this pick ticks me off. Not that Texas is not playing for a national championship, but the fact that Ohio State, a two loss team, is getting in over an undefeated Boise State.

National Championship: #1 Oklahoma vs #2 Florida

This is the matchup everybody was expecting, even though there are a lot of other teams who feel they deserve a shot at the championship.

So, that's pretty much the end of the show. Not many surprises, but the biggest loser is Boise State. They were higher ranked (#9) in the final BCS standings than Ohio State (#10), and had a better record, but OSU still got the nod. It wasn't about selecting the team who had earned it. It was all about rewarding the big schools.

Hopefully, this will generate some discussion from the sports fans here. I may have some better thoughts in the comments section, as right now, I'm just writing what comes to mind, and not giving too much coherent thought to my words. So, chime in, tell me why I'm wrong on my opinions, and we'll get some good debating going!

Wow! I judged that timestamp pretty well! :) Yes, I can view it when I start the post! Anywho, I'm up late, and since the brain is shutting town... I mean down... it's the perfect time for some randomness!

1) Floating on air... nothing like an unexpected hour and a half conversation!

2) Today, I learned what a "cow call" sounds like!

3) I was going to work on my video game today... stuff came up... couldn't do it.

5) I am now counting down the days until my next vacation... I guess I just want out of work that bad!

6) In some tomfoolery on the racquetball court, I tried samurai style, left handed. My racquet partner said I looked like I had some issues.

7) I feel honoured... a Magic the Gathering buddy of mine is making a deck to combat one of mine! That's a high form of compliment, in my opinion!

8) Did I skip a number?

4) I think I really should get to bed....

9) I now have the absolute coolest, most awesome belt! It's just a strap with two metal rings on the one end. I love it!

10) I listened to the newest Britney Spears song thw whole way through... if this is her big comeback song, then God help us all. The song is terrible!

11) I think I misspelled something above, but I'm too tired to go check and fix it.

12) 20 days until Christmas! Can't wait!
