Yeah, it's been a while again, sorry 'bout that. Kinda busy around here. Just the usual, plus trying to get into gear for GMinga ninjas game. And the players decided t ostart up before I had anything resembling a plot. hah. So I'm just gonna do training missions for a bit for character introductions and to try to get the players into the setting--none of them watch naruto, only one has been near a ninjas game before, so that could be a little awkward. Also as a side note, I've got a new roommate (Tom) living in the basement here. He's got a huge flatscreen TV, and XBox 360, and watches anime. This could be fun :) But in more immediate news: Firstly, on Sunday I wake up to find my rear tire is flat. I go out to investigate and I find that my bag & a TomTom gps that I could never get to work have been stolen from my car. The thieves kindly took my water bottle & lotion out of the bag (left 'em scattered around the parking lot) and didn't touch my CDs or books in the back seat, and didn't take any paperwork out of the glove compartment. (I'm very confused about that myself, but I'll get back to this part in a minute.) Tom fortunately works at an auto parts store and has a background in fixing cars, so he was able to repair the tire--looks like I ran over a piece of pipe or something, it was kinda big and before we found it, the tire deflated pretty quickly when we tried inflating it again. I've been keeping an eye on it and the patch he made has held up pretty well over the last couple days. That night I went out and bought another duffle bag, and monday I got a hacksaw to take out the internal handle thing so it could fold up better and also replaced the dice that had been in it, Then tonight some guy knocks on the door w/ my stolen bag and asks if it was mine--apparently it's been out behind his apt! It still had some mail in it with this address on, stuff that's gotten mistakenly forwarded here for my dad. Plus he recognized that some of the papers in it were Shadowrun character sheets!! O_O that's something I never expect ^_^ Doesn't sound like he's played in a while, but he said to stop by & say hi sometime... so I'm trying to figure out how to do that. Too many coincidences here to ignore, after all! So the overall results of this: I bought more dice and a smaller bag to replace one that's old and falling apart inside... and someone who used to play SR has said to stop by and say hi sometime. As soon as I can figure out how to do that without being a stalker, I intend to--can't not follow up on a lead like this, right? PS to TGB: can I insert links in the "now playing" section? Cause I'm streaming a free album via bandcamp.com and it's interesting enough to link from here... |

Welcome to part R of the vacation talk. What does R stand for? Randomness, of course! A long awaited one at that! Here we go! 1) Finally got home from vacation today. What was supposed to be a 7 1/2 hour trip home turned into a 9 hour excursion, due to stops to eat and empty bladder, and an ill-advised detour around a completely closed section of interstate! 2) Congratulations are in order to my niece and her dance troupe, whose acro dance and tap routines placed 4th and 6th overall respectively in their respective categories in the national dance championships! 3) Speaking of my niece, after I played my niece and her friends a song on my uke, one of them apparently got a crush on me. My one thought is why doesn't it have the same effect on girls my own age??? ^_^ 4) Speaking of the uke, I obviously took it with me on my vacation, and got a chance to play it on the beach as the sun rose over the ocean! 5) Speaking of playing the uke on the beach, as I was playing the uke on the beach, a surfer passed by, smiled, and said it was awesome. ^_^ 6) Speaking of surfing (or variants thereof), I bought a boogie board while at OC, and I got to use it on some of the waves there. Now, it's home with me, and I don't know what to do with it! 7) Speaking of being home with me, my cats have not left me alone since I've gotten home. Big Rog, especially, has been joined at the hip with me. 8) Speaking of Big Rog, I had to fill up bucket after bucket of water this evening, and each time I filled the bucket in the bathtub, Roggie followed me in and stood up against the edge of the bathtub to see what I was doing. 9) Speaking of buckets of water, I cleaned out my cooler finally, using the aforementioned buckets of water. 10) Speaking of cleaning out my cooler, I also used soap! 11) Speaking of soap, goats are like mushrooms... If you shoot a duck, I'm scared of toasters! 12) Speaking of... Can't you tell I'm tired? Goodnight all! More vacation talk to come soon! -- TG |

[to choose to melt the skies] I finally have a couple moments so gonna post a quick update from after the move. Currently at my parent's, took today off to help set stuff up for my sister's big wedding reception tomorrow--doesn't feel like I got much done, I spent way too much time working on a sign to stick on the side of the van as I'll be chauffeuring people to/from tomorrow (parking up here is kinda limited). I think I can get to sleep a little early tonight--and if I can't, I may shower tonight instead of in the morning. (TMI? :p ) In other news, apparently I'm going to GM a ninja game since Lucy's players all bailed on us. TRB is gonna be telepresent, will also have Brad & Tim Oakden from the current SR4 group, and Lucy is going to try to join as a player. No idea if we'll actually have content this first week or not; everyone got through chargen with time to spare the first week when I was still "Hey, what do you guys think about trying this?"... so I'm still trying to catch them up on the setting and haven't figured out the immediate plot--but at least I know (vaguely) what's going to be happening in the next 2 years! Whee! ^_^ I'm timeskipping my previous ninja game ahead 5 or 6 years and making my last character the sensei for the new group. "It'll be fun"...though I'm really not sure how she's gonna handle it. I'm debating posting her diary here, but I'm not sure I want the current players seeing it, so I'll probably just email it around like I used to. So that and MtG have taken up most of my time recently--Jason has gotten back into the game and has been making new decks for the Commander format, so I've burnt several nights helping him playtest. I really gotta limit that so I can put work into things I need to work on (like GMing and jobhunting and web programming). Have also gotten some more comics--a couple Doom 2099, started on New Mutants; didn't see any more Excalibur though, I need to find where those ran off to! Speaking of job hunting--my sister got me contact info for the place she works at, so I need to get a resume in there before I start thinking about it too much. I just got to Rivet City in Fallout 3; I'm level 13 or so, and I'm trying to figure out what quests to go on from there. Not sure if I'm gonna do the stuff w/ Pinkerton, or whether I'm just gonna try to follow the main plot for a while. I've got a lot of exploring to do as well, and I might should stop by Minefield to pick up some more mines... I've got a minion, low gun skills, and just a few frag grenades. Combat recently is just hide & wait for my minion to mop up, since they heal right quick after combat. Anyway, that seems to be most of the news. Mostly I feel like I'm in a holding pattern trying to work on ninjas, and other things keep getting in the way :) Ren Faire starts in a month, so I gotta get my vacation request in at work right soon as well! Well, it's been an interesting past couple of days, for sure! I go straight from being laid off to lying on the beach! ^_^ Funny how things work out! Anywho, after my last day of work, I went straight into my vacation which the family and I had been planning for some time. The destination? Ocean City, MD! I made the first leg of the trip Friday evening, and finished the journey Saturday. The first leg of the trip took me to Waynesboro, PA, where my uncle, aunt, and their family resides. I got a bit of a later start than I wanted to, but got to their place by about 11:30 PM Friday night. The trip was a little rough for a couple reasons. First off, I had to stop at the Highlands to get gas and pick up a couple travel items, which should have taken me about 15 minutes to do. Unfortunately, the Jamboree In The Hills crowd was beginning to roll into town, with what I assumed was a gaggle of rednecks who did not know how to either use technology or stay out of other people's ways. Needless to say, what was supposed to be a 15 minute stop turned into an hour-plus stay. Second, once I got into Maryland en route to Waynesboro (I-68 route was taken), it rained practically the entire time in Maryland. I had never driven in that part of the state before, so to have to navigate it in the rain was a bit nerve-wrecking, but I managed. But once I got into Waynesboro, despite my directions being pristine, a lack of marked roads led to me getting lost. I had taken a couple of wrong turns, and ended up somewhere way off the mark. I backtracked, though, and by coincidence, I happened to stumble upon the road my uncle lived on. So I turned there and looked for my mom's car (she had stopped there also), and I was able to finally find the house. The second leg of the trip was pretty bad also, because that seemed to be the weekend where everybody decided to go to Ocean City, and we got stuck in some terrible traffic that added probably an hour and a half to our journey. There were several places where traffic was just at a stand-still, and add in the fact that we were traveling in a group of three separate cars that sometimes got separated due to the crazy traffic, we were all on pins and needles while making the trip. Even without the traffic, the trip was tough to make, because there was not an extremely easy way to get to the city. We were on interstate for a little while, but a huge chunk of the trip was made on several different state, national, and local highways that made us have to keep close tabs on where we were and how far away the next turn was. In the end, though, we made it here safe and sound. So, this is where I leave off for now. Now that I got the travel part of it out of the way, I can go into detail of the fun I'm having! So stay tuned! ^_^ -- TG |

Greetings again! Well, time for my first update! I've probably told most of the people about this personally already, but for those who may not know, here we go. There have been some majour issues with my work place as of late. A couple months ago, my company's parent company declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and has been searching for a new owner for either the whole company or just parts of the company since then. My company (the division of the parent company) has been optimistic that we would soon be purchased, as an interested buyer had come forward and our division had some real value and profitability as opposed to the rest of the company. But with the bankruptcy proceedings being crazy and the bank calling the shots and not correctly estimating the value of our assets, there has never been a deal made. So for me, the past couple of months have been spent helping some of the executives get some special spreadsheets and applications designed to assist them with the task of getting product out the door in an expedited fashion. During this time, everybody in the company was give layoff dates, including myself, and I had to watch as a lot of people within the company that I've gotten to know after several years drop like flies to the layoff proceedings. Finally, my date had come. I am officially laid off from my company. What am I doing now? Well, right now, I'm on vacation, which I'll go into further detail on my next post. But after that, I have plans to try finding a part-time job to tide me over until I'm either called back after the company is finally sold. I'm also going to try getting caught up on housework, get into some Android app development, work out, and get other busy work done. I may have to look for a new full-time job entirely, but I'll cross that bridge if it comes to it. So, that's it for this update. Stay tuned for more updates! -- TG |
