Hello everybody. I would like to try out a new addition to the site: Tuesday Night Debate. In this segment, I open the board to civilized discussion on a hotly debated topic in the news. I will lay a few ground rules for this topic, as a subject such as this in other boards tends to devolve into flame wars and name calling. I believe we're all friends here, so we can have a civilized conversation on a heated topic. Please keep all discussion clean and civilized. Please refrain from profanity. And most importantly, no name calling or insults directed toward a particular person or group. For the first debate, I give you the controversial Tim Tebow Super Bowl Ad. In case you're not familiar with the issue, here is a link to the story: Tebow Super Bowl Ad Here is a brief summary of the story. Tim Tebow and his mother will be appearing in a Super Bowl ad to share their story about his mother's pregnancy with Tim. Due to complications, she was given the advice by doctors to terminate the pregnancy, but she refused and gave birth to Tim, who ends up becoming one of the biggest college football stars in recent memory. The commercial is being titled "Celebrate Family, Celebrate Life". However, pro-abortion activists are criticizing the ad, saying among other things, CBS created a double standard, as they have rejected ads in the past that have been in support of one side of other controversial subjects; the Super Bowl is not the arena for a political ad; and the ad is likely to convey an anti-abortion stance. What are your thoughts on this? I will be posting my comments a bit later, but if somebody wants to get the ball rolling, feel free to start us off! -- TG |

Greetings, my fearful followers, and welcome to another edition of WTF Video of the Week! Sorry for the long delay in releasing one of these, but hopefully this first dose of WTF for the new year will be well worth it. As with any new year, people are prone to making resolutions, and one may very well be confronting your fears. Well, that's what I'm doing here by even posting this! Heed the warning at the beginning, and if you decide to proceed, be prepared to freak out in true WTF fashion! That is, if you're afraid as I am! Ugh, I still have trouble watching! Enjoy! |

Hello everybody! Sorry I've been away for so long... Since the Tampa trip, I guess I haven't had anything exciting to write about! But I felt the need to get on here and give you all an update, so you don't think I completely abandoned this site. On the contrary... I have several things planned for this site, and that's the first thing to talk about. As you know, I mentioned in the last post that I plan on using a rating system on posts to reflect whether a member or guest views the post favourably or unfavourably. In addition to that, I have one other idea in mind to increase content to this site that I will reveal in a later post. Because of just busy work on my part, I haven't had time to work on any of this, but I am still planning on implementing these functions. In upcoming news, I am planning on having a Super Bowl party at my house. I'm excited about the matchup, the Colts and Saints, not only because they were the last two teams to lose a game in the regular season, but also because neither of them are the Jets. I am so glad that the Jets did not make the Super Bowl. I've told several people that I hoped they didn't make it, because whenever I see the Jets on TV, I tend to spew several hateful comments towards Rex Ryan, their coach. So since there will be several people from my church attending the party, I did not want any of them to see me say such hateful things toward a single person. The other thing I can think of to talk about at this late hour is that I've started into my company's winter fitness contest. I'm hoping I can lose a lot of weight while on this. Unfortunately, it's up to each of us participants to figure out what method to use to lose weight, so it's not like we're given a particular regiment to assist us. But a friend of mine has lent me a book to follow, which I guess she swears by. She says that this book is what she uses for all her nutrition guidance, and she is very well in shape and a big time fitness freak. So hopefully, the advise from the book will help. I will keep you all up to date on how my fitness is going. Well, I've got to get going. I've spent enough time avoiding bed. I hope to post some more later. So I'll catch you all later! -- TG |

So, I'm back from Tampa and back to normalcy, so time for me to get to work on stuff, particularly, this site. Within the next couple of days, I'm going to be adding a new feature to the site. This new feature, which will be a complement to the comments, will allow you to select whether you like or dislike the post... or maybe it will be love and hate... or dig and diss... I don't know. That's what I need your help with. I would like to hear your suggestions on what positive and negative terms I should use for this new feature. Other than the love and hate one, I think the examples I gave above are used by other sites, and I would like to have terms that are unique to this site. So please, if you're able, come up with two terms for the new feature. I will even throw in a prize for the member whose suggestion I pick! Hope to hear some good ones! --TG |
