Hello everybody! It has been a while since I've done a "real" post! By real, I mean one where I actually write a legitimate blog entry, not just a video, randomness, or other quick blurb. In fact, I checked my backlog, and the last time I wrote one of these was September 9th! So, in the spirit of trying to be a real blogger running a real blogging site, here is a long overdue blogging post!
I just made "blogging" sound a bit like an expletive, didn't I? ^_^
Anyway, one piece of major news in my life right now: my knee is improving. My doctor thought it was fractured, but the X-rays I had showed nothing, so I was fearing it was some sort of ligament damage. But I did have a follow-up MRI, and that test showed that it was indeed fractured! Confusing, I know. To be more precise, it was labeled as a "partial avulsion fracture" of the tibial tuberosity. The way my doctor described it is that the fracture was more like a slice than a visible break, sort of like if you slice the top layer of your skin in a manner where you can fold it back, but it is still attached and can put it back in place. It can be moved around and stuff, but the fractured piece lays where it is supposed to, so it can be very difficult to see in standard X-rays. But the MRI caught it, and luckily, I do not need surgery. I just have to take it easy, and over time, the fracture will heal on its own. I recently had a follow up appointment with my doctor, and I can resume light exercises with my leg. I still can't do weight training or running, but at least I can start trying to get back into shape without worrying about overdoing it on that leg!
Speaking of getting back into shape, I am trying to get into a healthier lifestyle. I had gone into a period of inactivity recently, where I wasn't doing anything right, and my weight shot up a good bit. I think part of it was from depression (not clinical) of not being able to exercise with the bad leg, so instead of working out using other parts, I just kind of went into an inactive state. But that's all done, and the weight has started to fall off. I think I'm already down about five pounds in just this past week! I don't know if that weight loss is because I'm actually doing things right now, or if my body is just readjusting back to its pre-inactive state, but I am happy with the progress. I am drinking more water, trying to do little bits of exercise throughout the day, and eating smaller portions. I am still extremely busy with work, projects, and other extracurriculars, but I'm hoping to try to fit in some walking and workout regiments to assist me in the weight loss goal. Oh, and anybody who has been to my house recently has noticed the bar hanging up between my dining room and kitchen. It's one of those door-mounting exercise bars, which you hang on your door and do chin-ups and other exercises. I can't really do a chin-up because of my weight, but I have gotten into the habit of doing a negative (jumping up and slowly lowering yourself down) every time I walk through that doorway.
That's all I can write for now. I promise I will write more a lot sooner than later. I might even jump on later tonight with another post, but at the least, I'll get another post up tomorrow. Hope that you will stay tuned, and as always, comments are appreciated! Catch y'all later!
