Ugh, wow, it's what, Friday morning now? Sorry I've been slacking off on updating this week. Van news--nothing useful to report. Dealership waned 1400 to fix the brakes--both rear brake lines are busted, and they think the front two will also go when they replace the junction. Makes sense, the thing's rusty enough, but I only paid 200 to start with--I don't wanna pay more than 400 on repairs like that! Besides, it only gives 16 or 17 mpg, so I may as well scrap it for a little extra cash and get a different vehicle. So I guess now I have to FIND said vehicle, which is always the difficult part. Fortunately Sophia & Jason are combining their forces (lol) to ge tme to work and back, though I did miss Tuesday. That's cool with me, I just have to find another job if this one decides to fire me >_> So, today's job news: 1) I had my second "Where is your supervisor so I can compliment you to him?" call! Yay! Some lady who I had to take an annoyingly long time to walkthrough a wireless PC setup... but compliments are always appreciated. 2) Oh, and I got my second QA today as well--it was an 82! So I'm improving, apparently, haha :) It gave me some more-recent feedback, which I appreciate as well. So now my average is 76, which needs work but isn't horrible. 3) I'm also still earning about how/when/why we send techs out. Some guy has two splitters OUTSIDE his house, and he called in to say two of his four TVs have lost signal. Well, duh, it's pretty obvious what the problem is, but can we really send a tech out when you don't wanna take a wrench outside in 20-degree weather to climb a ladder and see if reseating the cables will help? Apparently we can. That's great news, you'll have someone out on Saturday morning to look at it. Uuugh, I'm pretty worn out. Did some grocery shopping after work (so I can take a lunch tomorrow & Saturday) and didn't get back here till after midnight. After dinner it was about 130AM, and I'd love to be asleep before my "bedtime" of 3AM. Not quite expecting to ge t8 hours of sleep.... This AM I woke up about 8AM pretty wired & stressed, but was able to get back to sleep... and then a couple hours when I did wake up, I was exhausted. Blah! :( Here's to finding a different job...... |

As I have already warned TGB, I don't know how often I'll use this blog feature, but I am enjoying the concept of having a nice relatively off-radar place to blather, where a few people at least will bother to read it. I also enjoy that the default mood he leaves for us is "accomplished". Right now I am staying up late now and seeing the sun again. It is something I could go right through my normal schedule without seeing, now. I am eager to get to the next schedule, as I will be getting out of work a little after 8pm on most days. Waking up in the mornings will doubtless take some getting used to, but it will be good to have my evenings back! |

Oof. Bad start, better finish. Kind of: 1) Finally got my hair cut. Had to wake up at 10AM to do so, which means I only got 4 hours sleep, but that's OK, apparently. I'm just really tired now that I'm home >_< 2) However, I forgot my ID card and had to go back home to get it--so I ended up 30 minutes late instead of 30 minutes early. No biggie, though. 3) But then I didn't know when I was supposed to go on break, and by the time I figure out how to check, it's managed to be lunch time already O.o *I* think that's a good thing, corporate is gonna be slightly annoyed. 4) And then I end up taking 20 minutes on my "first" break because of talking with people. But that's mostly OK, I just took 10 minutes on my second break to even things out. 5) Somebody watching over my should at one point asked me why my call was taking so long. The answer? Because some guy had no router, and was still managing to get internet. I was having a horrible time figuring out what cables went where so I could explain to him that he has no internet on the second floor BECAUSE HE HAS NO ROUTER. And also that's why his guide was slow, and if that doesn't get fixed when he gets the new router he can just call back then. 6) I didn't ticket one call because I lost all my windows except notepad for no reason and with no warning or error message, and I also didn't know which notepad entry was the unticketed one. 7) Someone in California called in to say A: they had no service B: their battery backup unit had gone off AC current yesterday C: Something smelled of burning plastic. Yay, we can expedite dispatch-out for hazardous conditions! 8) Afternoons are crowded there >_< Or at least today was. The day did seem to go really quickly, though... but now I need some sleep. Or at least a nap, we'll see what happens >_< |

Urgh. My back is sore >_> 1) First day of "real" training DONE! I sucked pretty bad at saying everything I was supposed to say and at documenting stuff. Certainly gonna work on that more tomorrow, but I did see a lot of progress yesterday as well--I just hope I don't get QA'd on any of today's calls XD 2) The nice chick had a REALLY bad day--got to talk with her a little at lunch, she was shaking & said that she'd had 5 calls, three of which were her getting yelled at. She left during lunch break and likely isn't coming back. Sad. 3) The setup for this page is quite extensive... I don't have custom graphics for it yet so I'm just leaving a lot of default settings. I'll play with it some more, later sometime. 4) After lunch was much better, but I had an hour-ish call before lunch & another after lunch. The second guy asked for my name a second time & said I was really helpful though, so that made me happy ^_^ 5) Adjustment to this week's schedule: I have to be at work before 4:25PM, and I don't get to leave until 1AM. So I'll be home 30 minutes later than I've been used to, just for this week. First and last hour of that aren't on the phones, though, which is nice. Also, lunch is a true half hour now so it's "eat, pace a bit, then get back on the floor". 6) I'm really not worried about the 'talking with people' part... it's the "following corporate's talking points" and "DOCUMENT YOUR BLEEDING WORK!" that I don't have down yet. Hopefully after this training week is done I'll be comfortable enough to actually be able to think about the troubleshooting next week, haha. Right now I'm still feeling too rushed, between figuring out the actual troubleshooting to do, writing stuff in notepad, and talking with the customer.. I'm not used to that kind of multi-tasking :s |

Well, it's been a long time coming. I've been working on this new feature of the website for a good while now, and I thought I'd have it done sooner, but as I worked on it, I kept finding more and more features to add, and I figured I would try to get this thing right the first time. I at least I came close! ^_^ Anyway, here is the announcement I've been waiting to make. Introducing the new feature on TGBob.com... [drumroll...] The TGBob.com Member Blogs!!! That's right, every member now has the ability to create their own blogging site within the confines of TGBob.com. Each member, should they choose to establish a blog, can use a form-based editing screen, where they can customize almost every aspect of their blog page. Once their page is setup, they can begin adding all sorts of posts as they wish. Not only that, but when posting a blog, if the member so desires, they can click a checkbox to recommend that their blog be included on the main page of this site. To setup your blog, you should now see some new menu items in the main sidebar menu. Before you can start posting to your blog, you will need to run the initial setup, which will consist of you making the initial graphical changes to your blog. Once you submit your initial changes, your blog will become active, and you can start posting. I will eventually add the link buttons to share your blog addresses to different social networking/link sharing sites, but if you wish to share your blog address to other people, the address is: http://www.tgbob.com?username Just replace the "username" in the address above with your own TGBob.com username! You can also access a direct link to each member's blog from their member board page. Although the member board access is restricted to TGBob.com members only, members and non-members alike can access your blog using your personal blog address. There is a forum topic now opened in the TGBob.com category to discuss various aspects of the Member Blogs function. Please use that forum thread to request new features or changes, inform me of problems and errors, or anything else that would apply to this new function. I still have a few extra bells and whistles to add to the Member Blogs, as well as some help documents to assist you with the editor. But, if you have any questions or comments in the meantime, please let me know. I hope you all will enjoy this new feature, and I hope many of you will take advantage of it. Let me know what you think! -- TG |
