Well, I'm tired... I've had an exhausting weekend, and I still haven't quite recovered, but since it was requested of me to tell all y'all how these went, I'll fill you in! This past weekend's events consisted of the following: Meeting, Magic night, two graduation parties, a music gig, and the usual church stuff. Oh, and I got my lawn mowed, but I doubt anybody wants to hear about that. The meeting (for the big project I've been working on) went well, but not much to fill in on details there, for obvious reasons. Magic night was fun... We got an early start, ate Chinese food, drank lots of tasty and new beverages, and played several games of MtG. Church was its usual self (which isn't a bad thing)... We did have a visitor, and it was a guy that I knew, but hadn't seen in probably about 20 years! Oh, and I made a couple people cry with my singing. But then again, that's the norm. Ok, on to Saturday stuff. I was invited to three graduation parties, but could only attend two due to scheduling conflicts and the music gig I had right in the middle of all of them. The first party of the day was for one of my cousins, who just graduated high school. It was actually held at a small bowling alley, so I got to show off my splendid moves on the lanes! Well... relatively speaking. I got to bowl two games, and the first one, I got a 125, but the second, I fell to a 96. But, it was good enough to win both games... by large margins... I don't think the PBA will be calling anytime soon, but hey, I think I've run my bowling win streak to at least four straight wins! Anyway, I had a pretty good time there. I got to chat with my cousins for a good bit, and I especially enjoyed the chat I had with my cousin Bobby, who is making his own electronic music album! Oh, and the cakes... oh, the cakes... I really need to get pictures of them. They were very artistic, but one in particular caught my attention. It was done up as one of the stage heads of the techno group Deadmau5, and on the base was a spot-on icing representation of NYAN CAT!!! The second party I was invited to was a collective college graduation party for the mother of one of my friends, and her two daughters, who all graduated from the same college at the same time. I didn't get to go to that, though, because right after my cousin's party, I had to go home and get dressed for my gig. So yeah, me and the band I'm in, the Shadyside Community Band, had a gig out at Undo's for some glass museum's annual conference. We were essentially supposed to serve as background music while the attendees arrived, so we just stuck to some lighter standard pieces. We weren't expecting to be paid attention to, as we were acting as glorified elevator music. In fact, we were told not to expect applause, because we were just acting as a set piece. But the people attending actually took note of us, and were applauding after every number. Toward the end of our set, some of the people were coming up to us between numbers and chatting with us, commenting on how good we were, how they liked my hat, etc, etc. One guy, who I guess was one of the heads of the organization since he gave the opening remarks to start their dinner, came up and was asking about us, like who we were and where we were from. So we told him that we were the Shadyside Community Band, obviously based out of Shadyside. He replied something like "Shadyside? So you're all a bunch of shady characters then?" We laughed about that comment, and somewhat agreed. I mean, who could argue with that logic, especially since I was wearing my pin-striped pimp hat? So, when that guy gave the opening comments, he was thanking various people for organizing their conference, then he went on to thank us, saying "Thank you to the Shady Characters for their performance". So, was this going to end up being a name origin gig? It would be funny to look back, if we ever made it big, on that moment when we could say "this is how we got our name". Then again, nothing has officially been discussed regarding this, so stay tuned! And finally, we're getting to the last party of the evening. I went straight from the Undo's gig to the graduation party of a Steak n Shake waitress I've befriended. She actually ended up being the only person at the party that I even knew! So there was a good bit of time where I was pretty much sitting alone eating. I didn't mind, though, because the food was pretty good, especially the meatballs! Towards the end of the party, I ended up in a long conversation with this one guy, in which we traded stories about work, our towns, girls, and beverages of choice. I met and chatted with a few other people there, so for being a party where I only knew the guest of honor, I guess I was social enough! Well, it's getting late, but I hope you all enjoyed yet another glimpse into my life. I've got another crazy weekend coming up at the end of this week, which includes me diving into the fray at my church's VBS! That's right, I'll be teaching songs to young children. It could get ugly! Stay tuned! -- TG |

My bad. 1) Got to start the superhero RPG thing; Tim Oakden (from my senior year in college) is in it as well. I'd forgotten how, er, extreme his playstyle is. I'm thinking of calling him "Lawful Ambitious" though there's probably a better second term for that than 'ambitious'. But anyway... Him, me, and Lucy are in it so far. Lucy didn't have a complete character sheet and was too asleep to do too much work on one so I scribbled some basics together for her; she's gonna do some 'real' work on it later this weke when she's presumably more awake. Second session is tentatively scheduled for next Weds (not this Weds, I'll be at home--the one after that). Oakden is playing ex-military (well, now he's ex-military) and Lucy has a ganger. I'm playing the nerd of the team. Whee. So I'll have to find a place to post some of his thoughts, so I can keep things straight and do some planning for him outside of gametime. Because really, he's going to need a lot of plans. That game session was the best part of the month so far, even if that's not saying much ;) 2) I *have* been doing a lot better at work. I blame God for most of it, since I've been CONSISTENTLY having a lot of billing calls. Today though I actually had some back-to-back "Where's my wireless password? Oh, it's on the router? Cool, thanks, it's working now!" calls... and I was able to help a co-worker out a little as well, so I'm definitely getting a little more comfortable with the job. Which is great news. 3) I still have a horrible time waking up, of course. If I hadn't survived that 'normal 5-day' week at the beginning of the month, and if I wasn't now determined to reduce some of my occurances, I probably would have called off for today. Hoping to get to sleep a little early tonight, if writing this doesn't take to long <_< 4) My mum is getting her hip replaced this upcoming Monday. Wow that sounds weird, "getting her hip replaced", like going in to a tire shop or something... Still, this *is* just a "routine major surgery" and we're expecting her to make a full recovery As Soon As Possible (and don't go in swimming for a good hour). She'll probably not be home till Thursday, so when I see her on Weds it will be by visiting @ the hospital. 5) Speaking of visiting on Weds, I still have to finalize transportation. I would like to drive back w/ Kyla (keep us both company, if I'm not trying to sleep) and and then get someone to drive me back out Weds night, or even just to Jen's in New Concord on Thurs. She's said if I can be there at 11AM she can get me back to my place in time to get myself to work. Anyone care to volunteer? ;) Worst case, I'll just drive myself again. Gas prices are a little lower... >_> 6) Had a powerout at work today. My call got dropped. The lady had all services out and we were in the middle of trying to reboot her ONT (aka 'entire home network' or 'the box on the outside of your house'). Hah. Our power didn't stay off though, and my computer didn't poof, so it was Business As Usual soon after that. 7) Also, it's thundering right now. And the windows are open downstairs since it was so cool out when I got home, didn't see the point in running the AC. 8) Also, looks like I've finalized plans (or at least expectations) to move in w/ Tim & Lucy, somewhere in Dublin, sometime later this year. Or is it at the end of the month? I keep forgetting... Tim plans on working at the same place I do, so MAYBE we'll even get to save gas by carpooling some. Still, my drive should be shorter (if not necessarily faster) which will also free me up a little more money for rent etc. Now I just need to get more definite plans so I can let Jason know what's going on, since I think he doesn't read this...... Blast it, I need to be getting to bed but I don't quite think I'm tired enough yet! Grr. |

Uaah! Sorry it's been a while again. Have been mostly posting in other places when I had the chance instead of on here, sorry. Was supposed to have a superhero RPG start this past Weds, but instead my work decided to force-swap my schedule this week—they gave me Monday off instead of Wednesday. I had plenty of warning for work... just, they warned me right /after/ I had finalized things for Wednesday. Turned out OK as Tim couldn't make it out on time for Weds either, but still. Had a really bad week last week, and while things are going better now my stats are still not very hot. So, what all happened since my last post here? -checks his calendar- Saturday went well... Sunday I helped Jen move her big furniture out, then hung out w/ Lucy & Vincent (watching “Welcome to the NHK” anime). Monday hung out w/ Jason and watched the Thor movie. It's not bad (J Michael Straczynsky, however you spell that, was one of the screenwriters!), though there's a relevant-to-my-understanding-of-the-movie bit that apparently I missed. So far I've asked two other people and none of us agree on what actually happened, so will probably have to see some of the ending again at some point. (It's nowhere near good enough for me to see twice, though if I'd known JMS co-wrote it I would have been happy to go see it the first time---Thor just ain't very interesting to me. Thunderstrike or Beta Ray Bill maybe, but not Thor. He's just a silly beatstick.) So Tues/Weds/Thurs has been work-work-work; I did get my RadioU t-shirt today (finally! Yay! Was starting to think USPS had lost it again) and got to hang out w/ Tim and Lucy for too long after work last night. Mmm, tacos... Oh, and I've now watched Superman 4 and Batman Forever w/ Jason, since I haven't seen them before and he has all of those series on DVD. Have been rather tired as of nights, and just not letting myself go to bed early. Really gotta be asleep by 2 tonight! :( Last month was the first month I've gone over-budget in a while (and didn't put as much in savings as usual either)... part of that was driving over 2000 miles (?!!) though I kept my average $pg for the month down to about 3.85 somehow. Gas was up to 3.99 again today though, grrr. So, um. Work. Last month's average handle time was 16-something, I think. So a little better but still way too high. Also, my supervisor is changing schedules so our team is getting a new sup, or something like that. Not a center-wide reshuffle like the last two times, but I'll be with someone I don't know again. Whee. Had two hour-long calls today but I think I was still in my “normal” 16-18 minute overall range... will see tomorrow. I did also get two people compliment me to supervisors, so that's kind of a bonus; I just don't know if anyone really cares about those. On one of those, she had 4 issues so I started on one I was most confident about, got it fixed, and then proceeded to fix her “slow” computer because not only was it slow but her upload speed was legitimately poor... so did what I could for that, she was happy with that fix, and I pretended to do something useful about her phone service. I'm expecting she'll have to call back about her outbound caller ID and possibly also other people not being able to hear her—though I could hear her just fine, and didn't see anything pointing towards an issue with that. So, yeah. Same old same old. I'm mostly trying to focus on my occurrences/tardiness right now; that's something that I know *I* need to deal with. Um, futurecasting.... This Sunday Jason wants to hang out again, and Jen may or may not need help moving stuff some more. Mebbe I can get him to help out with that? Lol, but we'll see. Then Weds should be super heroes (finally an RPG again!) and then the Sun after that Kyla is coming out to visit... then my mum is in for a hip replacement on Monday through Weds or so; I'm thinking of going back to see her that Weds. Would be nice if I could go w/ Ky when she returns on Weds and then get a ride back out w/ Tim or someone, but haven't gotten to ask him about it yet. And when is Father's Day? One of my cousins is getting married, so I'm expecting to go w/ Louie to that, since she's considerate enough to be going and returning all in one day. Have to set up my budget for this month still. Likely going to be over a bit again because I had some many days off on the first paycheck. Grr. Need to pay for my auto insurance also, which means I need to buy checks sometime. ...and I think I've probably written enough for one evening so I'm just gonna post this and be done with it :) Oh! One last thing—we've turned our central AC on, and it's keeping the humidity down nicely, though I think Jason is only leaving it up near 80 due to electricity costs, not due to any particular desire to keep me warm ;) I still have a roll of duct tape to try to block the major air leaks from the AC unit, since that's in the laundry room beside me and I've had to turn my space heater on a little to keep from freezing... Bwahaha. At least it's not been humid out the last two days!! |

Hello! It has been way too long since I've posted last (drink). Sorry for not getting on here in forever. Well, I guess you could say that's not entirely true... I have been doing my best as a lurker, but it's not right for me to be lurking on my own site!!! So once again, I find myself apologizing to everybody who, for some reason, keeps coming back to this site! At least I had some other bloggers who covered for me in my absence! So, what's been going on with me? Well, I think the big reason I haven't been posting lately is because of this funk I've been in. A lot of it stems around the stresses of life and work, but I think the thing that sent me over the edge was pretty much getting rejected by a girl I was going to ask out. I thought I had read her actions correctly, and several people backed me up in my assumptions, but when I was in the process of asking her, she said she already had a boyfriend. Ugh... It was the biggest misread I've had in a really long time. And after all these years, I finally man up, and am now back in the hole. Well, this is probably not new news to most of you, if you'd been keeping track of my cryptic blog/Facebook posts. But, I figured I'd at least go on the record and state what happened, for anybody who wasn't able to figure the whole thing out! Now I'm rambling... What else... Well, Big Rog was sick recently... He got an infection caused by a couple bad teeth... I guess his roots got real bad, and it just spread. He was put on an antibiotic, and he's now feeling better! He's pretty much back to normal, but he still has to take his medicine (much to his displeasure), and he has a follow-up appointment this Friday. Red is being his same, annoying self. While Rogi was sick, I quarantined Red to the basement, so he wouldn't be able to hog all the food and water from Rogi. This was vital, as Big Rog was barely eating and drinking while he was sick, so if Rog decided it was time for him to eat or drink something, he could do it in peace. What am I still doing up? Dishes. With this funk I've been in, I've barely made time to go to the gym. That's a shame, because I enjoy going there, but I just haven't felt right. I'm hoping to get back next week. This week is pretty much a bust, with family being in town, but next week should be pretty open, except for the weekend. Yeah, next Saturday, not only does my band have a gig, but I've been invited to three graduation parties! I will be so exhausted by the end of that day! Well, time to get off here. Sorry this was so random, but I'm not quite coherent yet, plus it's late. But I felt I should post something, since I haven't done so in so long. I'll be getting the WTF Videos back up next week, so look forward to that! Well, catch y'all later! -- TG |
