[1/25/2012 9:01:59 PM] Finally back for the final segment of Idol in Aspen! For some reason, lots of people are dancing... Except for Magic Cyclops! He owns 11,000 air guitars, and had to leave Davenport, Iowa, because of gambling debts. Why does he sound Australian? He comes in and says "Bring In the Kraken", and the judges correct him. He says he has the British-like accent because his home only plays BBC stations... ??? This guy sings Cracklin' Rose and Margaritaville... He sings like he talks... Randy is annoyed and tries to leave to go to the bathroom, and then Magic shoots confetti out of his bum. Weird. Tomorrow, we've got a problem. We're going to Houston! [1/25/2012 8:53:35 PM] Back in beautiful Colorado. Next up is Angie Zeiderman... She wants to be like Lady Gaga. Oh great... o_O Randy asks her to sing a love song. She's singing some song, and being overly theatric. She sounds like she could have a decent voice, but she's more about putting on an act than anything. When she sings a second song without the theatrics, she sounds good. I'm just not sure about all of the theatrics. Could be a distraction, in my opinion. Oh well. The judges like her, so she's through. Time for another commercial break. Maybe next, they'll finally show this crazy guy. [1/25/2012 8:45:02 PM] We're back, and Ryan is getting snowed on... Too bad it's fake snow... Montage of rejects... One guy screams, and they show an avalanche falling. Oh well. Next up, Jairon Jackson, who is going to sing an original. He looks like he should have a deeper voice, but he has a higher-pitched R&B-style voice. Steven thinks his voice is beautiful, J-Lo and Randy are both impressed by the song. He gets a yes from all the judges. He's so happy, he forgets to give Ryan a high five. He falls on the ground, and on exiting, he jumps up and breaks a light bulb! LOL... This guy is just fun to watch. Hope he does well! Time for another commercial! [1/25/2012 8:37:29 PM] Next up, a real cutie. Her name is Shelby Tweten, and she's bipolar. She talks a lot about her condition, and it seems the singing helps her get through the hard times. She has a very sweet sounding country voice. I would compare her to maybe a stronger-sounding Taylor Swift. The judges are just impressed with her voice, and she gets a yes from each judge. Time for another commercial break, and when we come back, a lover, and a guy I'm thinking is a prankster. [1/25/2012 8:33:31 PM] We're back, and Steven won't stop eating! Well, he might not want to eat what the next contestant is serving! Next up is Alanna Snare, who works at a bar that is famous for serving Rocky Mountain Oysters... That's "Bull Testicles" for the uninitiated... Steven thinks she ate some of those just from the sound she's putting out. The producers are throwing in cow noises over her singing. She's a no. [1/25/2012 8:28:01 PM] Time for another commercial break! [1/25/2012 8:27:40 PM] We're back, and we are in Aspen, CO! Next up is a country girl, 18 year old Haley Smith. She works three jobs, including being a vegetarian working in a meat plant! ^_^ She's going to sing me Tell Me Something Good... Hope she sings something good! Her voice is interesting... Kind of soulful like an Alanis Morrisette. The judges love her voice... Steven is honoured to be in front of her, and she is right out of his era. The judges all say yes, including a "so yes" from Steven. As she leaves, Randy calls her a real flower child. Accurate description! [1/25/2012 8:22:21 PM] I'm finally home, watching Idol! In commercial break right now... Got home just in time to see some twin in a yellow jumpsuit screaming her lungs out. She didn't make it. ^_^ |

Well, it's been another month-since-my-last-post, and I'm not sure what I've forgotten to post about. I do have a whiteboard up with a monthly calendar of sorts on it, but I'm not keeping that close track of my activities. Mebbe I should start doing that again? Somehow I just kept losing track of my notebook in this apt--and that was before the cat was around. Recent stuff though::: 1) Came down with my yearly sinus cold after my most recent trip home. Ended up missing a day of work due to having a fever; I also "missed" a day off with that same fever. Feeling better today, so if my upper respiratory tract doesn't dry out too much tonight I may be just about done with it. Won't that be nice :) 2) Got my days off moved back to Weds/Sun, starting this week! Yay! 3) Still haven't done any work on getting a different job. Trying to get my resume updated and sent to some IT temp agencies. No idea what else I'll have to do with that. 4) Ordered a Flash/ActionScript programming book today w/ Christmas monies; hopefully will be able to do sometihng with that. Not really looking to make a Flash game at this point, but we'll see what I can come up with. I still want to have a decent mecha game around..... 5) Also trying to find a free/cheap webhost that will let me run PHP and have a database.... I do have a game idea I want to work on, it's just better suited to being a web-page game than a flash game. Hoping to do recon on this this month and actually purchase it next month... but we'll see how busy I get. 6) Oh, and a couple days after I was done having a fever, my space heater broke. Fortunately I found that my door does have a working latch, so I can keep the warm air in and the cat out. More sleeping is good! 7) Finally found a local church that has evening services, but forgot what time that was--turns out it's 5pm, and I didn't have time to get there tonight once I found it. I've got it on my calendar for next week though. 8) Did get a $.25 raise on my last paycheck, since I've been there a year now. That's what, $10/week before taxes? Wow that's a lot. >_> 9) Anything else going on? Not really. Lots of visiting family since my last post. Everything else is pretty business-as-usual. There are tenative plans for a Shadowrun game next month, but since people are talking of changing characters (again) I'll probably put the currnet campaign on hold for a while until some of them settle down, so that Tim won't be uber-powerful and guiding around a herd of n00bs. So I guess that means I have to find another adventure somewhere....... |

[1/22/2012 11:59:34 PM] Well, that's a wrap... 53 people got golden tickets. Next up, Wednesday, to Aspen! [1/22/2012 11:58:46 PM] We're back, and the auditions are wrapping up... Time for Wolf! a.k.a. Jason Hamlin... He has quite the splendid beard! He calls his guitar a git-fiddle, and his father passed away back in 2010. This guy looks enormous... He's not fat, just very large... He makes Ryan look tiny. He does a CCR song, and he has kind of a soulful country voice. Steven needs to hear something else, so they permit him to play his guitar... He's totally throwback country, very powerful and bluesy! The Wolf is going to Hollywood! And in his celebration, he breaks the set! :) [1/22/2012 11:50:17 PM] Well, we get a montage of girls getting through to Hollywood left and right... followed by a commercial break, which will hopefully be followed by Wolf, the Bearded Wonder! [1/22/2012 11:49:30 PM] Next up, is a girl who has been singing for a long time. They show a home movie of her singing, and when she concludes, the camera turns toward her dad who is filming... Holy crap! Her dad's Jim Carrey!!! Awesome!!! Her name is Jane Carrey, and she actually has a pretty decent voice... Needs a bit of work, as she's kind of rough around the edges, but she could definitely go somewhere. So, she is through to Hollywood! [1/22/2012 11:45:45 PM] Joanne Childers greets us after commercial break with her audition... Which is interrupted by the carrier's airhorn! We get a montage now of contestants getting interrupted by airhorns and jets! Haha... Steven even gets censored by all the random noises coming from the ship! Lol! [1/22/2012 11:40:09 PM] Next up is frat boy/ladies man, Kyle Cruise... He likes J-Lo's lips.. He sings a Monica song and dedicates it to J-Lo. Ok, his voice is not bad... Doesn't really fit his looks... He looks like an older version of the younger brother on the Pauly Shore movie Son In Law... The judges just love him, and Kyle gets choked up upon hearing that the judges love his singing. He's moving on to Hollywood. And we're going into another commercial break... Soon, we will get to see a bearded wonder! ^_^ [1/22/2012 11:36:04 PM] And we're back on day two of auditions on the aircraft carrier... Steven can't wait until he gets to hear 40 people sing the same Adele song... [1/22/2012 11:32:26 PM] And yet another commercial! [1/22/2012 11:31:45 PM] We're back with Ali Shields. She wanted to go on American Idol because she got on Ellen. Yeah, that's a good enough reason. She's all hyper and stalker-ish... She's going to rap instead of sing... WTF? The bits of singing she does is not that good... She then does a booty dance and embarrasses herself. Now she's actually singing... If you want to call that singing... For some reason, the judges actually like her... what just happened? I'm so confused... [1/22/2012 11:25:09 PM] Back from commercial! Next up is Aubree Dieckmeyer, and she wants to be America's Next Top Model! Wait... wrong show! What is she doing here then? She's going to sing Michael Buble, and she has a soft, gentle voice... Nothing spectacular, but the judges eat it up. Randy says she loses power in her upper range, but he likes her. Steven likes her voice's flavour. J-Lo just loves everything. The judges (and Aubree) all say yes, so she's through! And time for another commercial! [1/22/2012 11:17:34 PM] Next up is a guy who is just doing some crazy speech about life goals and such... He says he's an R&B artist and songwriter... He's way too energetic. His name is Jayrah Gibson... He mixes in some beatboxing into the beginning of his song, and that's probably the best part of the song in my opinion. His voice is ok, not very strong, but at least he's on key. The judges like his R&B style, so they send him through. Now they're showing of montage of people who get through, including some guy who bumps his head on an overhead pipe. Commercial time! [1/22/2012 11:13:33 PM] We're back on the carrier... Steven is testing the censors. Next up is a single mom who looks incredible! Her name is Ashley Robles... She's singing a Whitney Houston song, and she is actually do a very good job on it... Actually hitting all the notes, and just has that power ballad voice to her! The judges are just blown away! They all give her a yes, and she's through! Ok, I just found my crush of the season! ^_^ [1/22/2012 11:06:44 PM] Commercial break time! And it looks like we are going to have a bit of a freak show on our hands! [1/22/2012 11:06:13 PM] First up, some girl in Daisy Dukes and a bikini top! She looks like she's auditioning just to be noticed for her body. Ryan keeps checking out her butt as she's walking up the stairs. Steven has a special pair of goggles to stare at her with. Jennifer Diley is her name, and her voice is really weak. Despite trying to look hot for the judges, Randy just looks bored. She leaves with no votes cast for her. Randy says she should have worn a red bikini instead. [1/22/2012 11:03:03 PM] Well, the 10,000 that showed up initially don't get on the carrier. It's just the people who get to go in front of the judges... And did I just see Rebecca Black? [1/22/2012 11:00:27 PM] Time for Idol! Wait.... Where are they shooting this episode from? Ok, it's San Diego, but they're doing the final auditions on an aircraft carrier! The USS Midway! Nice! [1/22/2012 10:44:40 PM] Well, the Giants are moving on to Super Bowl 46. So, with that out of the way, Idol will be starting soon. Go Pats! ^_^ [1/22/2012 10:35:23 PM] We've got a special episode of American Idol tonight! Just waiting for the NFC Championship Game to wrap up... Go Giants! |

This may be more of a warning than a normal post, but I'm posting to let anybody who cares know that I've done some more work on my rpg I'm writing, and it looks like an end in sight... maybe. At least it looks like I may soon be begining the task of looking for test players. We'll see. Anyway, if Ican crank out this whole post on a PS3, I can pretty much do anything, right? | ||||||||

Well, this has turned into an interesting night, to say the least! For once, it's 2:30 in the morning, and I'm still not home, nor will I be home until sometime tomorrow (or later today for all of you being literal). I am still at the Grindhouse (coffee house), as are a few others that I hang out with out here. We got this crazy storm that blew in, a mixture of snow, rain, and ice, and the roads are now barely drivable. So a few of us have taken up shelter here at this coffee house for the night! I get to sleep on this plush leather couch, while the owner of the place is passed out on a chair just some twenty feet away from me. Man, I hope he doesn't snore! ^_^ I'm usually still up for a couple more hours, so I'm just kind of sitting here right now, with everybody else asleep, trying to work up the courage to lie down and attempt sleep myself. So, during this time of pondering, I thought I'd write here a little bit to occupy myself, and you guys as well if you're still awake! Tonight's open mic night here was pretty kickin'... despite the absolutely terrible weather, there was a packed house here tonight, including a couple of people who had only come here once before. Me and my guitarist buddy, LD, ended up doing a lot of songs. We only did about three when the night first started, but we ended up taking the mic one final time before the end of the night, and we cranked out probably a dozen more songs. Some of the later songs that we did, it really felt as if I was falling into a nice groove, and was really nailing the songs. Well, at least that's what it felt like to me, and the remaining audience seemed to enjoy it. Heck, I even got a bit over-confident, and played three songs on my own, just me and my ukulele! All in all, a good night of singing. After driving out in the ice to take one of the other open mic participants home (I had promised him a ride before things got bad, but I held true to my word.), I returned to the coffee house to join the rest of the people who were crashing here. We were doing a good bit of jamming and fooling around on our instruments, when this one girl mentioned this one song that I hadn't heard in probably about 15 years... "What Might Have Been" by Little Texas. One guitarist said he used to know how to play the song, so he started playing around with the chords, and I somehow managed to remember ALL of the words to the song. So I ended up singing along with his strumming, adding as many inflections as I could to make it sound nice, and I think we may now end up adding that song to our set list! It's funny how some things can just come together like that! Well, time for me to try sleeping. I'm not sure what the owner's plans are... whether he's going to wake me up at a certain time, or if he's just going to let me sleep until I awake on my own. Either way, I better be prepared, so I should try to get a few hours of sleep so I can be ready to brave the drive home. Goodnight all, and be safe out there! -- TG |
