Sometimes, I wish I could read minds. That way, I wouldn't have to deal with trying to figure people out. Then again, I sometimes wish I could read my own mind, as it seems my thoughts have constantly become entangled by varying emotions. It's very hard to understand people; especially the ones you care about. Maybe it's because since you have an emotional connection with that person, you begin to notice the slight variances in their moods, the changes of expression when their thought patterns switch. What do you make of these newfound differences? The most confusing involve men and women, it seems. What do you make of it, when they tell you that nothing is wrong, but their eyes say otherwise? Do you notice the changes in their tone when they talk to you; the moments when they want to be near you, compared with those moments when you're just a nuisance? Or are you just completely misreading it all? I believe some people call these "mixed signals". That has been my bane in life... not being able to accurately read people. Yes, I know that mind-reading cuts out that part of the human element, where you get to learn about each other. I just wish, sometimes, I could just cut through the crap. I wish that I could just instantly know what people thought about me. Yes, it might set me up for heartbreak, but it would be nice to just get it out of the way so I could move on, rather than going through the motions of getting to know someone, while in the back of my mind, that lingering thought is there that maybe I'm just being strung along. Do they really care? Do they really like me? Are they just keeping me around as if they are doing a good deed for me? Do they keep me around, not because they like me, but because I make them feel better about themselves? Do they just enjoy keeping me at arm's length, because emotions are just a game? I wish I could just figure out which option it is, so I wouldn't have to read the signals. Are the positive signals really there, and you're just missing them? Are there mixed signals, and you read them incorrectly? Or are there no signals, but you wish there was something you could at least attempt to read? Then again, I can't think straight. I want to think straight, but my mind has become entangled in a massive ball of emotions wound so tight, that every time I try unknotting them, the more the strings grip together; the more I struggle, the more helpless and confused I become. Is there a word for that? If so, my mind won't admit what it is. I think I just need to start with figuring out my own mind first. -- TG |
