  Hey everyone:

I'm going in Friday morning to do paperwork (drug screening, background check, HS diploma, etc etc) for a job.

It's through Adecco (placement/temp agency) so I don't know much about the job itself yet >_>
"Light industrial", "warehouse worker", $9.80/hr, 5PM-330AM + mandatory overtime (up to 6AM, dunno how often) and I'll have Fri & Sat off.
Oh, and it's located somewhere in Wheeling.

So it looks like my schedule will be sleep/work/sleep/work for a while, assuming I don't totally fail the entrance testing somehow.

Presumably I'll find out more on Friday, and I'll be sure to update this when I have more info on it.

Dunno how long it'll last, but at least the pay will be good :)

Congratulations! Just hold off on eating any poppy seed bagels before your drug tests! *_*

Gonna try to relate important stuff I learned today; I only had a few hours sleep this AM though so I may have to add more later.

1) Client company is Cardinal Health; apparently they're a medical supply company--hence the background check/drug screening.

2) Work schedule is 5PM-6AM Sun & Mon; 6PM-330AM (or later??) T/W/TH --which comes out to around 52 hour workweeks, if I did my math right the second time...

3) Job is pulling items from storage and sending to shipping dept. I should expect to be very busy--which is good, though the sheer # of hours is gonna be rough.

4) $9.80 + 10 hours overtime comes out to $500 (+/- $50) a week--which is great, since my birthday present to myself this year is moving out of my parents house: I'll have almost a month to save up for that. (Then I'm saving for a car, then a new computer--though with these hours, when will I have time for a computer?)

The job site is in Elm Grove, so I may end up moving to WVa--reducing travel time is very important at this point :)

5) Job hours are gonna mean I sleep 730AM-330PM every day... which means I need to find a church around here that has Saturday evening services >_> Or else a Messianic Synagogue, though I think Tim would've found that already if we had one.

6) If I survive 6 weeks (or 240 hours, whichever comes last) then Cardinal has the option to hire me directly instead of using me as a temp Adecco worker. I have no clue if this will be desirable or if it'll even happen, but it implies to me that this is not a seasonal job.

7) I start once the background check clears--which should be no earlier than this Weds, but might be as late as next Monday.

SO: Prayers for endurance greatly appreciated. Also, I'm bad enough at finding a job when I have the time to look--so how will I move on from this one?
I'm not looking that far ahead yet (I need the money Right Now too much) but at some point I will be.

Also: Praise that this application was painless. Mebbe that's not so good in the long run, but right now I appreciate it >_<

Lemme know if there are any other questions I can clarify... I'll post again sometime after I've actually been to work; presumably the Adecco people have accurate info, but OTOH it's second-hand, so there's more noise in the signal.

I'm intending to write a massmail about this sometime soon, but here's some more info after two days at work:

1) Work hours are from whenever we start (usually 6PM, though Sun & Mon are often/usually 5PM; they're hoping to get enough people to change start hours to 6PM/7PM) till whenever we get that day's orders shipped out. This paycheck (all two days of it) has 19.25 hours on it! That's not counting the 45 minute lunch break.

2) My wrists are sore >_> NOT used to extended workouts like this. I dunno whether I'm getting any cardio out of it, but OTOH I can tell I need to up my caloric intake.
I'm thinking two bowls of cereal, a bagel, and some juice for breakfast; a granola bar & mebbe an apple for snack; some pop & three sammiches for dinner (and the apple if I didn't have it at break); and then a bowl or two of chili (or spaghetti, or whatever) when I get home.

3) Don't take the above the wrong way--I'm glad for the exercise, and there's enough to do that the time goes pretty quick. After a week (maybe a month) my body should get the hint that it's going to have a higher work-output than it's been used to, so I'm really not worried about that. I'm a little worried about how I'm gonna put up with only having two days a week to do anything (like cleaning, shopping, email......) but once I've done this for a month or so I should have a schedule worked out.

I'll be praying for you, too.

Hope you find a church with an available worship service (that may be rough though).

Take care man and God Bless.

12 hour day today. Whee. Likely the same tomorrow, then back to 9-to-10 hour days for the rest of the week >_>

My feet are sore & my back is a little sore, so I'm gonna take another ibuprofen. Didn't take any to lunch. Did end up eating all 3 sandwiches (at second break), but couldn't get to the third one during lunch. I think mebbe I put too much sriracha on them... well, I've been meaning to buff up my heat tolerance ;)

Now to turn in last week's timecard online, dunno why they make us do that!

  WTFBBQ??
Adecco called this afternoon to say that Cardinal had told them that I "wasn't working out". No usefrul info aside from that. So, um, that job lasted all of three days (and about 30 hours). Now I'm back at "AHHHHH! What am I gonna do in a month?!?" v.v
