Hey, I've been wondering if you guys have any good stories about ninjaing people, people ninjaing you, or you ninjaing yourself (still a legitimate use of the term) If you need I can go first, but I wanna know if any of you have any fun stories.

I don't know how ninja this one is, but I'll shoot!

Last weekend, I went and saw Star Trek with Matty and his friend. After the movie was over, Matty and his friend left the theater room, but I sat in my seat an extra minute or so, and then left. I had figured that they had gone to the restroom, and there was one right by the theater we were in. But instead of going in that one, I entered a restroom in the lobby. After I came out of that restroom, I saw Matty standing near the entrance of the theater we were just in, apparently waiting for me to come out. So, instead of yelling for him, I "stealthily" walked up behind him, out of his field of vision, and ended up just standing right beside him as he was watching for me to exit the theater. I was standing there beside him for at least a minute before he looked to his right and noticed me.

Most ninja of all, though, was his friend, who had made it entirely outside of the theater complex without either of us noticing.

Knowing you, though, you probably have much better stories than this! Your turn! :)

Ok, so here's the most recent (although I've been having lots of fun genjutsuing my roommate lately).
A few weeks ago, I did something which made him decide I was Psychic. Then, a few days later, I did something else which made him exclaim "Wow, You're a psychic". He then started trying to remember what I had done the first time, but I interupted.
I said, "Hey, did I tell you I'm working on a varient of the alter memory spell?" He thought a moment, but I didn't let him reply. "Instead of implanting a memory, you just take one out, and leave a blank."
"But wouldn't they notice it was gone?" He asked.
I smiled, "Well yes, but then it is too late, because it is gone."
He looked confused. "but how is this better than alter memory? Is the drain less?"
"No," I answered, "but I might be able to use this one in real life."
Then he realized what i had done, but true to my intent, it was too late. He has no idea what it was that I had done. And now he thinks THAT was the plan, but that was just misdirection. The REAL plan was this:
I had used the same trick twice on him, and if he had thought of what it was I had done, he might have someday realized how I could have done it without being psychic. Now, however, any attempts to pull these ealier events to mind will only result in his remembering the conversation I just related.
So he will never remember the first thing I did.
So he will never be sure how he knows I'm psychic.
So I might as well be.

I'll be honest. I think this is a new record for me. Anybody else? I miss ninjaing, and the group I did that with, so I would love to hear more stories!

That is an awesome one man! I don't think I've particularly tried genjutsu on somebody, but I think I may have to try now!

/me ponders potential victims...

Does the part where [ I'm sitting on the couch (reading, usually, or maybe napping) and people come in the other side of the room (directly across from the couch), look around, and then ask where I am ] count?

Light levels might have been involved with some of those, as well, so I'm uncertain... but it's the closest I can think of right now. But I know it's happened when I'm reading and turning pages, so /that/ should count at least a little...... yes/no?

But yes, genjutsu like that is certainly something I'd like to strive for now ;)

/me thinks of the instructional video "How Not To Be Seen".... and the consequences of being seen...

So Strike, were you trying to not be seen in those cases, or were the other people just oblivious?

However, ninja and oblivious people would be a very bad combination, at least from perspective of the oblivious person... then again, what do they know? They're oblivious!

I was not [trying to not be seen]... so that makes the others just oblivious? OTOH, I wasn't trying /to/ be seen, either.
Ah well ;)

Ok, here's one of my favorites. In Columbus, Will stole my coffee cup, and then he and Nate watched as I searched for it, got caught up in conversation and forgot about it, but still subconsciously cast my gaze around the room looking for it, then truely forgot, then went and made myself another cup, while they just watched a smiled. I have to say, that was pretty ninja.

Also, strike, if you weren't TRYING not to be seen, that seems more like a gray man, or an SEP field than ninjaing...of course you could make good use of either ninjaing people, but they are different as I see it.

OK, so I'm an accidental ninja. I never get around to ninja-ing someone on purpose (unless following TGB halfway across Best Buy before he noticed me counts--comments, TGB?)

Tonight, though, I told Kyla I was going to do laundry while she was in another room... I promptly got sidetracked by some reading material, and she jumped (frightened) when she came back in the room and I was sitting right beside the doorway.

(Prompting a short discussion about 'accidental ninjaing'.)

actually, strike, I've give it a little more thought and changed my mind. we're countig ninjaing onesself, and I think people don't intend to ninja themselves, so unintentional ninjaing must count, therefore I think accidental ninjaing shjould still be ninjaing. And yes, Kyla is fun to ninja :)

I'm beginning to wonder if I'm just that good, or if I just have insane luck, but I keep running into this lady I'm in band with in all sorts of obscure places. I've run into her at both Steak n Shake and Panera at the mall, plus a bit earlier today (or yesterday, depending on who you ask), I ran into her at the Target at the Highlands. It's with such frequency, that she claims I'm stalking her.

  Um.... both?

Got a new one.... today, I drove my mom to the Walmart in the new car.... well, I went to a different part of the store to visit a friend of mine who was working in the meat department, while my mom was checking out. I had timed it about right to where my mom was walking toward the exit, and I was coming up behind her at a rapid pace. She got out into the lobby to put her buggy back and get her bags out of it. When she first entered the lobby, there was nobody there. So she turned around to get her stuff, and when she turned back around, I was sitting there with my legs crossed, minding my own business! :)

boo yah. Can a person be a loud (or not quiet) ninja? The same person that made me doubt my ninjocity works in the cube next to me. I was able to enter his cube (with my jangly keys and all) and thief some candy off of his desk while he was in it. a Few moments later I passed he offered me some candy and I stuck out my tongue and showed him the candy that was in my mouth. He was surprised that I was able to be loud as I normally am and sneak past him. The only thing I said was "How's those ninja skills now?"
I know it's not much... but it's an improvement from having my ninja tank be on P (Pirate)

I hope to see you soon, and we will talk face to face.

Oh, on can totally be a noisy ninja. It's all about redirection, as you demonstrated. It's easier to be silent and sneaky, especially if you're trying to go somewhere unnoticed, but.... ninjas do a lot more than just move around undetected.

a, suge! I think getting in and getting out unnoticed is even more impressive if you are loud.

Gettin in/ouy unnoticed and being loud is impressive only if there are those around that would observe. If you are breaking and entering into an empty house when no one in the neighborhood is around... then not so much.

I hope to see you soon, and we will talk face to face.
